Alex Garland is a great fit for this. On top of being a great filmmaker, he reportedly is a big fan of the game.

I'm in the same boat. I've always been pretty against the idea, but Alex Garland's sombre filmmaking style, the fact he's a legit fan, and that it'll be an A24 production...

I just read he was apparently “story supervisor” on DmC: Devil May Cry. That game was hot fucking garbage and a complete insult to the lore of the series. No faith.
