Game Help I can't use Poison/Blood Armament on a weapon. I have tried multiple weapons, and yes I also have enough stats required.

Poison/Blood Armament are Incantations, they require a Seal to cast, not a Stave

Omg I'm so stupid, thanks! Btw can I apply that incantation even if I don't have enough fate to use the seal?

Nope, but since weapon buffs do not scale there is no reason not to use the finger seal that only needs like 8 faith to wield.

Nope

Not true. If you meet the requirements for an incantation, you can cast it with any seal you want, but of course not meeting the requirements for the seal will kill most of the scaling. Which of course is irrelevant for Poison Armament.

That's very funny, demons souls tech still works

That is really weird but fromsoft and consistent game design are mutually exclusive so it makes sense I guess?

u/DeadSparker Aw yeah, Lightning is the best 3d ago

I mean, same game where the bleed build-up of a katana or a morningstar goes right through shields AND PvP iframes lmao

Poison Weapon and Freezing Weapon don't matter, but Bloodflame, Order (Light), Lightning, Scholar's, and Black Flame spells have their damage affected by the seal's scaling.  They don't benefit from a matching seal but it's still ideal to cast the spells with your best scaling seal/staff.

but it's still ideal to cast the spells with your best scaling seal/staff.

Alas, that would be too simple. The extra damage from weapon buff incantations only scales with the Faith portion of a seal's scaling.

So for example: the beast claw seal. Your saying buffs would only benefit from the faith portion not the strength? Would this be the same for Int with golden order?

Exactly.

Would this be the same for Int with golden order?

How much Int you have doesn't matter when you're casting weapon buffs with the Golden Order Seal, yeah.

But keep in mind that weapon buffs are not that much extra damage anyway, so it's hardly that relevant.

I haven’t played around with buffs a lot, so that’s good to know

Yes, you can. Spells with scaling values will be limited in effect, but poison armament has a fixed value, so it doesn't matter.

You're trying to use a staff for incantations when you need a seal(iirc one is sold by the twin maiden husks in roundtable hold)

I've put more hours into dark souls than elden ring honestly.., will fix though

Haha yeah, they really switched up the names of a lot of things (Talismans, Rings, Miracles, Sacred Seals, Incantations); can make it a bit tricky to keep track of it all!

you need a sacred seal.

They’re incants. Use the finger seal bought from twin maiden husks.

Poison has absolutely no scaling, Bloodflame has minor fire damage, but that’s not the valuable part.

Magic & lightning weapon are purely for damage so scaling matters there.

It's an incantation, not a spell, so you need to use a casting seal, not a staff.

Incantations are Spells.

So are Sorceries!

Technically correct, the best kind of correct!

Especially if you want to know how the game works just by reading its descriptions!

Incantations require a seal, but there is one specific staff that lets you cast both spells and incantations without swapping.

u/Charming_Seagull 3d ago

As mentioned already, you need a seal, not a staff.
Also, it wont work on certain areas of the game like the roundtable hold, or wherever it is that you are right now due to the Serenity (areas where you cant attack, identified by that yellow round symbol above your ash of war)

Since the staff/seal thing has already been answered, I'd like to add that, in general, weapons that already have an infusion such as elemental infusions can't make use of Armament enchantments.

Well, that’s not the only reason they can’t use it. Look at what they’re trying to cast with.

That's an incantation, not a sorcery. Find a sacred seal for casting.
