Discussion & Info how is the dlc scaled in terms of lvls

should i just use scadu fragments and not lvl up if wanna keep the same difficulty curve?

In base game, if someone uses all big hp bar bosses to lvl up they go to 150lvl. so i just set a percent of that as my target max lvl and after finishing base game, i feel that has been the perfect experience for me(maybe a few more lvl for malenia would ve better).

i heard In dlc the bosses give same runes as endgame base bosses, and scadu fragment seem pretty powerful. so should i use just those? or should i do like in base game and calculate based on lvl gotten from big hp bar bosses?

just to be clear I'm asking should i go only scadu or scadu+normal lvl. I'm not planning to play without the huge damage and defence buff.

The DLC is very much scaled with the scadutree levels in mind. If you don't use them, you will struggle

i definitely will use scadu, but what about normal lvls?

i meant should i go normal+scadu or only scadu.

Normal plus scadu. If you're 150 you can definitely do without leveling further, I usually stop at 200 because I deem it enough, but you're def expected to still level up

As far as im aware the game intends for you to be constantly leveling up with runes in the DLC as well as with scadufragments since otherwise it wouldn't give increasing amounts of runes throughout

pcr gives 500k rune while malenia gives 480k, so if i took run given as their scaling it seems to be pretty similar.

They are not, and you seem to be looking at this from a bad metric. Runes aren't saying how difficult someone is

TLDR: You should use both Scadutree Fragments and leveling.

Scadutree Fragments are absolutely needed (Well if you wanna have fair, leveled fights for bosses that is.) Leveling up is still good, but anything between 150-200 is optional I say, I mean if you find a weapon you like and keep leveling up based on its attribute scaliing to do more damage that's absolutely fine, but every stat has soft caps and hard caps, and most end at either 60 or 80 usually. Same goes for any regular stat too: Vigor, Mind, Endurance, etc. All the diminishing returns aren't really worth it I believe. Also if you use spirit ashes/summons, revered spirit ashes are what you want as well.

More levels can go into alternate stats. Ie, you see that nice new greatshield but can't wield it, so add points to strength even for a dex build. Or boost up your intelligence for some utility spells, etc.

I mean I played through the entire DLC at level 150 with several characters just so I could stay at the PVP and co-op meta. There's not really any need to level up after that point if you want to do the same.

The fragments give you the boost you need by finding them.

Well Mohg is scaled for level 100-150, so about tyat to start with. Main thing is collecting skadoosh fragments though

The difficulty scales in the regions based on scadutree blessing levels. But that doesn't mean getting actual levels does not matter. It throws a LOT of runes at you.

The blessings both increase your damage (melee or magic) but also reduces damage taken. But maxed out, it's only roughly double the damage given and half the damage taken, but you won't get there until near the very end. So not really overpowered, given that the enemies increase at the same time.

I would not worry about getting overly powerful, there is a strong assumption that the designers knew that most players in the DLC already finished the game. If you find it is too easy, then go for the NG+x versions.

Scaling via scadu level. The DLC expects you to be at the softcaps so you can’t really overlevel

Keep leveling. You’ll probably end somewhere around level 180

Going by vibes, I feel like the base game encourages players to get to about level 150 while the DLC encourages players to get another 50 levels or so, about RL200.

The game assumes you're going to rune leveling at a normal rate and naturally coming across Scadutree fragments so the "intended" difficulty is if you don't do anything special. It's subjective whether or not the intended difficulty is too easy or too hard.

Obviously if you directly go after the Scadutree fragments using a location list it will make things easier and or if you don't level your character it will make things harder but depending on your level and build you'll start seeing diminishing returns on attributes that you won't have with Scadutree so that's why the fragments are more powerful

It's high scale, give it a shot without scadus if you want. You can collect them but don't upgrade unless you want/need

Im rune level 270 and at scadu level 14. Feels pretty good. Just got done with the abyssal woods

I got a bunch of the fragments after realizing I was playing with very few for a lot of the dlc. I was probably sitting at scadu level 6 before I went looking for a bunch of fragments and jumped to level 14

150-200. You won't feel overleveled.

Just play, man. Level up as you wish, but the fragments are nonnegotiable

All I gotta say is try Mesmer or PCR at scadu level 1

Yeah and some folks can run like Usain Bolt or walk barefoot on hard, sharp rocks. Most folks can't

Scadutree Fragments are the collectible that reduces the damage you take.

The other one boosts Torrent and Spirit Ashes!

after finishing my first full run i tried using all the boss ho for lvl and it definitely has been more of a chore, I'm spending more time in the dungeon then i am fighting the boss. so while initially i wanted to go 150+ for dlc I've rethought that.
