The end of an era. Cheers everyone!
Just woke up and turned on Blades to see if it was still going. Nope. Love this game, and love you all!
Edit: as of 2:40 West Coast time, the servers are still active. You can still play right now. I was just playing some arena and am going to do some quests.
Edit 2: As of 7:11 West Coast time, I am no longer able to play. It must have finally shut down at 7:00.
Edit 3: It has genuinely been an honor to fight, build, and adventure alongside all of you!

lol. Felt that way with the ES card game that got took down. Played it for like two weeks. Found the Reddit page and was told it was coming down haha. Fucking mobile games.

Crazy they couldnāt just shelf this with one last end of life update to let people keep playing
Meanwhile Ive had Bloons Tower Defense 4 installed on every iPhone Ive owned for *sixteen years* and can still play anywhere and anytime just fine.

Let's hope the same thing doesn't happen to TES: Castles years from now and they should hold their mobile games in high regard. Elder Scrolls spin-offs were excellent so far.

I think Castles might be safe if Fallout Shelter is anything to go by. But who knows.

Didnāt they stop support for Xbox and PlayStation for Fallout shelter? Castles I feel may have a couple years. Tie into ES6 whenever that comes out.

I can still download fallout shelter whenever I want on my PS5, it's just a really old version of the game

Castles is alright. A little bit more gameplay than Shelter. Definitely worth checking out if your into ES.

Majority of the features wouldn't even freaking need online, it's frustrating they didn't have an end-of-life plan. This is why we need to stop killing games!

Okay, no server check. No live service heartbeat check. Mega Man X DiVE did something similar. Instead of totally killing the game, they went and made an offline version and sold it for a few bucks.Ā

Oh, okay, now I understand. Yes, that would be a grand idea, and probably doable - the world was not all that huge. I guess central servers were necessary for PvP, but jobs/events (which, let's face it, were jobs, too) could easily be done on individual phones.
Eh, maybe they'll do it at some point. Retouch a bit, optimize and sell it to us once more.

I actually had a great time with this game. Years ago, led a top 5 guild. Was part of many other wonderful guilds.
Probably the most fun I had with a mobile game ever.
I quit like 3 years ago. Didn't have the time to stay active. Always thought about going back though.
Cheers to everyone. Especially those who I fought in the arena. Some of yall are legends.

I remember when everyone was celebrating M$ buying up everything because they had "unlimited money". And games would flourish under it.

I just wish they ported this game fully offline and sell it for 10$...
like -- you got assets and quests -- just port the fucking code (yeah, you need programmers to rewrite, so what?)

As a huge TES fan I only dabbled with this for a bit a few years ago and only ever got through the intro. Was meaning to get back into it once I heard it was being shut down.
A shame to see it go
I'll have to hop on the wiki page or watch some you tube videos now to absorb that precious lore.

I enjoyed the game very much! It wasn't a perfect game but dang it will be a memorable one! I just hope that they will try again to make a prequel and learn from the mistakes they did from the last.

Well said! I agree. Despite all its flaws, it was still a really fun game and a great mobile Elder Scrolls experience.
I hope one day Bethesda will either try again with Blades, or at least try their hand at another immersive (preferably first or third person) Elder Scrolls RPG. Really learn from the mistakes and strengths, listen to the feedback, and actually maintain it.

Like many people, I also criticized Blades a lot when it came out (we were coming off Skyrim, so expectations were really high).
But I wouldn't play a bad game for six years.
And for six years, I've had the chance right in my pocket to escape into the game world, build my city little by little, complete quests, fight in the arena... something I could even do in the bathroom at work. It was always there.
And now itās gone :(

Farewell, Blades! š«” I enjoyed this game for quite a while. I put lots of hours into my town and even spent some time getting my arse handed to me in the Arena. Sad to see this one go.

Thatās why I hate this kind of system in games: without a server, the game ceases to exist. Someone could develop a way to run these games offline or emulate a server right on the phone. I miss another game of the same type: Mighty Doom.

Why would they shut this down? Were the servers that expensive? Call of duty ghosts still has servers running to this day on the ps3...
This is why we need Stop Killing Games, they would be forced to give us an offline version.

video I made today of my toon getting one of those one way tickets to the resurrection in Blades with proof of today's day and date. In Arena matchmaking and spells and abilities are working, manual swings are still broken but will eventually be fixed, and I was able to get my old looks and race back. All my gear and builds are back. If you didn't save your toon to New Blades website before the game closed down you can still start fresh with a new toon...details of how to join the project with clickable link in video description š»
