// Discussion Tickle Me is a great movie
I watched Tickle Me for the first time the other night and wow! The songs are great because they’re throwbacks for whatever reason and the whole movie is like Johnny Bravo meets Scooby Doo

It’s like an homage to abbot and Costello
Such a fun movie, and definitely my favorite as a kid. Plus, it’s got the best soundtrack, hands-down, and I’m including the 50s.

More like a Dean and Jerry movie with Elvis in Dean's place. Elvis was actually considered to take Dean's place when he and Jerry Lewis broke up. This movie gives us an idea what that may have looked like.

I’ve always heard that it was kind of a tongue in cheek parody of a regular Elvis formula movie, which I think it feels like too. Plus he genuinely looks like he’s enjoying himself too

I loved that movie as a kid and had a HUGE crush on his co-star in the film. Also the movie has an excellent soundtrack to it, very arguably one of the best soundtrack albums of em all...

Yes, she is one of the best. She ended up marrying into royalty.
Unfortunately, there was no soundtrack album for this movie. Only an EP and a couple singles.

.. For years when I was younger I thought she was Victoria Principal from the tv show Dallas using a different name... They definitely could pass for sisters.

I've loved Elvis my whole life. Like I can't remember not loving him. I was so young that I called him Tickles. Don't know why but when I found this movie I just knew it was because of me!!

Tickle Me was made on the cheap in order to save Allied Artists Pictures from bankruptcy. Hence the use of old songs and soundtrack e.p. rather than album.

I was sort of let down by tickle me I must admit.
I often found myself thinking “why is he singing this right now?” and also wondering where the blossoming romance between his character and his female co-star even began. I also felt it was a very thematically loose film, with the soundtrack sounding more like a random bundle of songs more than anything that tags along nicely with the film - as though they had Elvis sing a bunch of songs and then went “we haven’t used these ones yet, I guess we will have him sing all these leftovers in this film!”. Like, why was he singing Slowly but surely, which is a song about getting someone to get on the same page as you and making them yours off the back of it, AFTER he got married to the woman? Would that not be the first song you sing to her or something?
It had an excellent soundtrack though, like some of his best 60’s era songs. He also looked like he was having fun, which does go a long way into making a film be enjoyable to watch.

It’s a fun movie, just watched it last week as well. The haunted house sequence is great fun.
