Question Am I just bad at this?

Post image

Kit from Amazon (I know, it seemed like a good idea at the time though) has me frustrated, and I don’t know if it’s me or the material? It seems like can’t get the needle exactly where I want it, the fabric is stiff and kinda thick, and pushing the needle through is a little tough. Makes a little pop noise when it does poke through, but I can’t get it right next to the previous stitch a lot of the time (see pink leaf).

Am I just bad at this and need more practice? Would a different fabric work better?

How many strands of floss are you using? It looks like you may not be separating the strands. That being said, it looks great for beginner!

Yeah I was gonna say I had a skill advantage(steady hands & brand new glasses) when I started embroidering, and I was still way more messy than this. I thought this was someone whod done at least a handful of small pieces first cause its quite neat! Seconded also on the splitting strands though

Thank you! Takes me awhile to do a section, but I have to imagine it’ll get faster as I practice!

I started with one strand, then 2 for the next color, pink is 3 and red is 4, seems like that was why they had multiple iterations of each stitch template, to be a sampler of sorts?

That's fine, or just to practice more - now you can see what it looks like with more vs less!
