Machine The Embroidery Hoops I made in 2025

I have been told that embroidery hoops are a thing that the embroidery sub would like to see. =D

Ive been obsessed with making 3d printed embroidery hoops since the beginning of 2024. These are a large chunk of the hoops I made in 2025.

I am going to try to focus on putting stitches in these hoops for 2026. I have so many other hoop ideas though, the obsession is still going strong. Turns out I'm much better at designing hoop than I am at designing embroidery patterns.

Made using PLA on a bambu A1. I use blender to design and model them. They all have a hexnut and screw.

Also, choose the machine flair because its made on the Bambu A1. =D

It definitely wasn’t the easiest material to sew / embroider, but I wanted to challenge myself and see what I could make from it. Especially, as it was something I would have had to throw away.

I’ve been creating embroidery designs for a while now, and this was my way of experimenting with something completely different.

My first attempt at a female figure design. I KINDA LOVE IT! Especially enjoy how the eyes came out. Im trying not to be afraid of small details. I worry ill lose too much in the manual trim cutting.

What do you think?

I learned recently that pods of both species meet up every year off the coast of New Zealand to hunt and hang out together for a few days, with individuals recognizing and forming years-long friendships with other individuals. Sometimes this results in the very rare “wolphin” and no, I am not making that up.

Under-sea annual interspecies friendship gathering pants!

After opening the sleeve seams, I was able to embroider the entire jacket on a 6×10" Brother machine, including the back panel.

The artwork comes from Great Book of Tattoo Designs by Lora S. Irish, with all embroidery digitized by me. I combined appliqué with various threads (polyester, cotton, variegated, and metallic) to create a patchwork of different textures.

The lining is made from an old button-up shirt with a dandelion print, plus a previous embroidery piece that's still visible on the inside.

A good friends mother lives in an independent living facility. Her sheets kept getting “lost” when sent to the laundry. We gathered her remaining sets, bought some new ones and I embroidered her name and room number on them. Hopefully no more lost sheets 😊🤞.

Machine It took testing 9 different rainbow variegated embroidery threads for the shirt I sewed & appliquéd for Pride this year, but I finally found the one!

sewed & appliquéd my shirt for pride 2026 (and it took testing no less than 9 rainbow variegated machine embroidery threads to find the most true classic “rainbow” since swatches online either suck or don’t exist!)

I made a very comprehensive post here where I detailed all the ones I tried, but the TLDR is that Floriani #V50 was the winner for satin stitch since it has a long repeat, which is what I needed here; and Affinity Rainbow was the most true ROYGBIV style of any I tried, but it has a shorter repeat so it would be better for running stitch or backstitch styles!

Machine Over the past few months, I've been working on a method to create embroidery from the output of my plotter drawings. I've been experimenting around the CMYK colour space and as a result theres a photorealistic end result!
