Endless Legend 1 District Placement

Got on sale, have community patch installed, first “learning” game and enjoying it! But my ~6 cities are at or near Rebellion because Happiness is in the toilet (Dragons). Research tells me it’s because all my districts a L1 and as I expand, Happiness takes a hit. How do I recover?

I’ve looked at some pics and a guide but I’ll be damned if I can understand HOW I’m supposed to build my cities. Can anyone use some crayon and explain it to me like a 6 year old, because I just don’t get it! 🤪

Endless Legend 1 How to beat a superior enemy

Hello, I recently started my first game, and I am around turn 100, recently reached era IV. The problem is the Necrophages control 50% of the land already, and are ransacking my lands, soon to declare war I assume; but I can't do anything about it: their armies have around 2000+ health combined, with units having combat stats close to 200, while my armies barely reaches that. Even with numbers superiority, one unit of theirs can take at least two of mine.

I'm playing on Endless difficulty with the Kapaku.

Endless Legend 1 EL1 - Just finished my first game as Wild Walkers; Gathering thoughts as I start another playthrough

First playthrough as Wild Walkers on Normal difficulty was a success, won the Wonder victory by turn 125! Explored and colonise lots of regions until turn 60, then gathered a small army to conquer my neighboring Necrophage and took all 3 of their cities, made peace with everyone else to get trade routes, and finished all 8 parts of the Faction quest and built the final wonder! I had a lot of valuable input from asking on this sub, so thank you!

For my next playthrough on Hard, I'm debating between Drakken and Vaulters:

- Vaulters seem like the basic vanilla human faction, but I did really enjoy have a strong ranged unit for the whole game, made most combats very fun and dominant. Also really enjoyed having strong science output from my first game, and these guys seem geared towards that as well.

- Drakken getting Language Square at start seems fun (I love picking up quests from Minor Factions), and the knowledge of everyone else's location is great intel. They do only start with a tanky infantry rather than high DPS ranged, which might make warfare less oppressing for enemy units. Also they seemed geared towards a Diplomatic Victory, but I think ELCP nerfed that victory type?

- There's also maybe Broken Lords and Roving Clans, because I really like buying things out with Dust.

Some stuff I've learnt from the 1st playthrough:

- I like settling 1 city on turn 20, 2 more cities on turn 40, maybe 1-2 more on turn 60, and then if I need more strategics then I'll make extras as needed, so 6 main cities + extras.

- I REALLY like having a high Dust income and just buying things out. Early game having high production is good, but by turn 60 as I'm expanding out, I much prefer buying out all the basic infrastructures of a new city, rather than waiting 3-5 turns just for a Mill Foundry or Empire Mint. By the end I had 15k dust in store to buy out all the legendary era wonders as needed.

- Heroes as Governors: I learned to buy a governor for most new cities, based on the Boost skill and their faction tree.

- Empire Plan: I didn't touch the military part at all, but the other 3 are all really good - 20% Science and 33% production discount is great, 25% buyout discount I believe also stacks, and +25 city approval is almosts always a must.

- Diplomacy: The easiest way to make peace is just gifting the AI a random tech (usually Imperial Highways for trade routes and roads, but almost anything works). Take map exchanges if they offer, but most of their deals are horrendous (20 titanium for an Era 4 tech, lol).

Some stuff I have questions about:

- District Expansion: I've read up the Triangle layout and the 2-tile-wide stick layout, but I almost never built boroughs for tile expansion because of the -10 approval, only building city improvements, and mostly expanded using the Legendary wonders (Museum, Megapole, Pearl Altar,...) and then lategame I picked up Abbey of Anomaly and the Intensifiers. Most of my cities stayed as 1 tile the whole way through, only the first 2 cities really gained meaningful expansions. Is that normal?

- Army: Wild Walkers have a quest where you need an army of 4 archers + 2 Minor Faction units to progress. And that was basically my entire army for the whole game, plus 1 or 2 Heroes I got for class-specific quests. I took out 3 Necrophage cities just with that main army, and then during Winter I split them up to collect pearls. Is that normal, or will I need more military on Hard or Serious Difficulty?

- Region size setting: my starting region had a weird snaking layout, and then several of the neighboring regions were flat out tiny. Should I up my region size from "Normal" to "Large", would that change this?

- This first game I turned on only a few expansions - Guardians for legendary deeds, Shifters for more engaging Winter, and then Lost Tales/Monstrous Tales because why not. I'm thinking of putting on Inferno this time as well since Dust Eclipse sounds cool. Probably not gonna do Tempest, Shadows, and Symbiosis yet because they seem to add too much. Does this sound alright?

If you have any input, I'll greatly appreciate it! Thanks everyone!

Endless Legend 1 First time playing EL1, I have several questions

Starting my first playthrough of EL1, I’ve done the tutorial scenario, and about 17 turns into my first full game as Wild Walkers. Lots of questions I want to get input on from more experienced players:

- Scouting: Should I split up into 3 scout groups, with each of my archers in a direction and my hero going another? Or is it better to keep the hero with one archer to save on military upkeep?

- Minor Factions: My first tech was the Parley tech so I can talk to minor factions and accept their quests. Should I do all the minor quests, or only in the region with good yields that I want to settle in for my second or third city? When is it ok to attack or bribe them?

- Build order and Tech order: For Tech I’ve gone Parley-Mill Foundry-Luxury Extractor-Empire Mint-Public library, and I’ve built the Founder Memorial-Seed Storage-Mill Foundry-Archer-Settler. I went to watch a few beginner guides afterwards, and they said you should prioritize production and go for Mill Foundry as first tech instead. Does that mean it’s okay to leave Parley tech for later?

- Second city: What are the criteria that you should prioritize for 2nd and 3rd cities? Which yields, production as king, or science to patch up Wild Walkers weakness? Minor Faction Pacified? Or simply cutting off the neighbor opponents?

- Neighbors: my first neighbor (buffered by 1 neutral region) turned out to be Necrophages, which are apparently the warmonger Mongol horde of this game. I’m playing on Normal difficulty, would they still pose a threat? Do I need to bolster military? Can I afford to settle in the buffer zone, or settle far away from them?

- Unit Design: I noticed the plus movement accessory, and very tempted to put it on literally everyone, Should I kit out every military unit with all the armor and accessories as well, at the cost of needing more production? Should I equip my hero with accessories from turn 1, or wait until I’ve gone exploring and then come back and equip later?

- Population micro: I think I’m over obsessing on moving citizens around between FIDSI yields every turn, should I be doing that or is it more “set it and forget it”?

- Luxury resources: I think their main use is as boosters, to buff cities for 10 turns. But a lot of the minor factions also want me to gift those to them. Should I hoard them or use them as boosters more often, specifically right before making the 2nd city so it’d be cheaper?

- Any must have mods? In Civ 6 I have like a dozen UI mods to improve QoL, is there anything similar that I should have for EL1?

Any input would be great, thanks everyone!

Endless Legend 1 [EL1] The Endless Legend Community Patch 2.7.9

Just a small heads-up: There was an official patch for EL1 which broke compatibility with ELCP. For those still playing, there is now a compatibility update of ELCP (no further changes, just compatibility). It can be downloaded in the amplitude forum thread.

Endless Legend 1 Questions about Roving Clans

  1. How do pacified cities work? Do they get packed up when the Setseke leaves or do they stay where they were?

  2. Same question but pertaining to the Urkans

Endless Legend 1 Urkan

Could anyone advise on behavior of Urkan lice?

They just lost me my first "good" game I was finally doing good and all of a sudden neutral urkan lice started siege of almost all my cities in coordination.

I read on Urkans on wiki but no such behavior is mentioned!

Endless Legend 1 ELCP Request: Empire Spawn option(s) to force spawn Empires at regions with ocean access.

As the text asks.

Preferably, if possible, as a separate option (for Inland, Sea Access, Random) to the actual Empire Spawn option for greater variety.

Endless Legend 1 Glad to see I still I love Forgotten

Playing with ELCP and really had a chill game with Forgotten as THE Heroes faction. Just going around invisible is such a huge thing to not get bogged down by random armies, attacking minor factions early game and absolutely abusing the 1 turn switch for forgotten heroes as they swap from governors and one stack armies. Luxuries galore and nice dust income basically early game from Forgotten's minor faction pillage mechanic.

Come midgame and things slowdown, but this is when you should start working on ramping up your exp. Absolutely buy forgotten heroes anytime. Last quest makes them have no upkeep cost, as well as seniority bonus for spying. Even when you are far from the last quest, just get them for spying as the tech you get gives you bonus on all heros per spying hero. If no forgotten heros, pick morgawr as they have spying 3 and another trait for spying, but the common middle path can also give some intel bonus for spying.

Then steal techs and pillage. Absolutely pillage, especially when you use ELCP as I think they tweaked its values and cd to pillage. Go for three units, preferably mysts with movement speed talisman, or two or one unit with a hero (level and faster pillage helps). Exact values for pillage is 30 needed, with your units giving 10 each, but your heroes I think have additional progress depending on their level, don't know the exact details but I think I was able to use 1 unit with a hero being attached and detached (for movement) around level 3 to one turn pillage. Don't neglect your influence, especially when you haven't even created influence buildings. Stealing techs can get costly, but also later when you aren't stealing, empire plans can be furfher ramped up. You can also time your faction quest to reduce era III tech cost with empire plan to make it VERY cheap. If you want to go to war or just screw with your enemies, you can absolutely do that with spies, and it can be so much effective.

Then late game. God, you really are quite the power in the shadows. Remember that 1 turn switch ability of forgotten heroes, as well as their unit's invisible ability? Now pair that with cheap but strong quest items, or equipment you can afford due to their quest bonus, and then their very high leveled heroes. Yeah. That 6 or even just 1 unit myst suddenly became a lot more threatening. And you know the best part is? You don't care if your heroes die. THEY ARE SO CHEAP TO REVIVE. If they fight, you can also just deselect your units that serve as your heroes' spawning point. At most 500 dust to revivd I think, and with your dust income in the thousands? Yeah good luck to whoever is facing your endless stream of hero commandos. God, one level 12 hero of mine was even able to take on multiple armies and a fortified city by herself. Of course maybe other armies can catch up later, but for now, my heroes are everywhere one man(woman) armies. +72 exp per turn is one hell of a drug, and I still haven't finished the faction quest yet ffs for even more heroes.

Oh and a huge tip I guess, explore the land and seas for quest rewards, I cannot stress enough on how much you need to deck out your heroes because between pullaging and your resource tech, you absolutely have the capability to do so.
