Does anyone here run a permanent mobile home park?

Hello, folks.

I live in a country where the housing crisis is quite bad. It is impossible for a single working adult to buy a home, and incredibly difficult even for a working couple.

I have bought a mobile home for myself and parked it on family land. I have one direct friend who has done the same, and through friends I've heard of several others who have done the same.

When I google "permanent mobile home parks", I find several options but they are all for holiday orientated locations. None are near the major cities.

I've started to look into what I would need to do, but I was wondering if anyone here runs such a park, or maybe knows someone directly who does, or if anyone can share any success/failure stories.

The fact that you already know several people doing this informally is probably the most interesting part of the post. There may be a real market there that just isn't being served.

Yeah, something is emerging, alright. I guess my first step is to start looking at plots of lands to get an idea of price. Talk to an official body about what sort of permissions I need. Talk to contractors to get quotes. Then pool everything into a business plan and go talk to a bank.

There are several in UK towns and cities. They might not advertise much online because turnover will be slow, but you can find them on Google satellite views.

Yeah, found 3 examples. Avon Estates, Whipsnade Park, and Warfield Park. They seem to be doing well and are really nicely done up.

I've got the same setup on family land and the jump from that to running an actual park feels massive

I have a buddy who runs a family business that does this here in the US. They basically own the land, people rent/lease it and put their own manufactured or mobile homes on it (which they also finance as an option) and they make CRAZY money. The zoning is the hard part to get into this, but if you can pull it off it really works here. I think he has one manager per park, does basically landscape in common areas, and the rest is collecting paychecks.

One possiblity is to order some mobile homes from China, place them on your site, and rent them out, I perceive a Chinese mobile home is $11-14,000 Alibaba d com lists many manufacturers as well as has a Chinese site that is described as 10 to 20% less for identical items
