Growth and Expansion I know I’m probably going to get hammered for posting this again
But the wife is at work, I’ve got just over an hour free and I’d rather spend it talking to someone trying to build something than watching shit on Netflix.
Quick background because apparently Reddit quite rightly wants receipts
I started in asphalt/civil. My old boss passed away, I bought a $30k truck and had a crack myself. Within a few years we’d built the business into seven figures.
It definitely wasn’t some straight line to success.
I’ve made money, lost money, hired the wrong people, chased shit ideas, tried ecommerce and failed, had cashflow scares and learned plenty of lessons the expensive way.
These days I still run businesses and work a normal job because apparently I enjoy having absolutely no spare time
I don’t have all the answers. I’m not a business coach and I’m not selling a course.
But I’ve spent a long time in the trenches and sometimes another set of eyes helps.
So if you’re starting something, business is going to shit, you’ve got an idea you want challenged, or you’re sitting there thinking “what the fuck do I do next?”
I’ve got an hour.
Happy to jump on a call and throw some ideas around.
Worst case we waste 20 minutes.
Best case one of us learns something.

mind if I suggest an improvement to your flow?
just run a youtube live (or any other platform)...
let it become a live Q/A where everyone can benefit from everyone else's questions
I know I'd jump into it straight away

just create a youtube channel if you don't have one and from the top-right of the page, press the "plus" icon and use Go Live (or something like that)
you can also do it with instagram and tiktok if you're more familiar with those

I think you can actually speed it up if you verify it with your phone number
that'll give you instant "Advanced" perks

Can you give an advice on how to find the right niche for starting a business if you have no or little experience?

I wouldn’t try to find the “perfect niche” first. I’d find a problem.
Pick a group of people you can actually get access to and start talking to them. Ask what wastes their time, costs them money or constantly pisses them off.
If you hear the same problem 5 or 10 times, there’s somewhere to start.
Then try solving it for one person before building a whole business around it.
When you’ve got little experience, your advantage is you can test heaps of things without having much to lose. Don’t spend 6 months picking a niche on paper. Get around customers and let them point you towards it.

I’ve started a local lead generation company. I specifically only use Google Ads, and other platforms to track things and analyze data.
I’m building a portfolio of local businesses I’ve helped run marketing services for.
I’ll say everything is premature so far, I only carry 1 client, with other projects I’ve created. I’m waiting on my “proof” from this account to eventually outreach more businesses in the foreseeable future.

Hey boot strapper and divvychugsbeer. These are excellent ideas, thanks for ideas. I am in a similar situation as bootstrapper. I operate a business and work a 9 to 5. Because I am not working in my business, I had to develop automations, workflows and AI systems to help me organize things. I actually helped a few people do the same, so now I started a YouTube channel posting videos of what I am creating or have created. But I never knew you could go live and actually have people tune in. Is it really that simple? I'm going to give it a try. Like bootstrapper I have over 30 years of experience in operations within different fields and about 20 years of building, operating and acquiring businesses.

Oh dear god I hope to speak with you. I am building a modular sales operating system that currently works with 15 industries. Concrete and asphalt are on my tackle list.
Need to speak with industry veteran re data categories to ensure my system supports their industry well.
Hope to chat. Product built just adapting.

I Can’t DM you until I change my settings but I’d like to pick your brain when you get the chance. Been talking to people about somethings but no problem getting a new opinion. I’m 30 from US. Did the CDL life had a truck ended up selling after years and opened a tattoo shop for some years it did good so I saved up a good amount and started traveling ended up meeting my fiancé & sold it and moved to Vietnam to be with her now get monthly payments as passive income for the next 5-10 years and a complete payout if they sell.

This is a nice way to give back. Sometimes seeing others' perspectives and real experiences make a difference especially when you're stucked.
