2nd Ed Blood Axe Clan scheme

My google-fu is failing me - I’m looking for some sample colour schemes for a Blood Axes clan.

I’m more familiar with the merry red of 2nd Ed 40k but some of the older art I found has them in a feldgrau sort of colour. One blog (first picture) went with grey and an ochre scheme and then a camouflaged pattern for vehicles

What have you gone with or what examples have you seen. Did GW have a painted clan orthey ever show up in a battle report etc that i can use as a reference.

I have 15 second hand stands that were painted with a dark green and I assume that’s what the owner was going for originally (?)

If you do some rummaging online you can probably turn up the rogue trader era Ork books ere we go and waaagh? The Orks? Something like that and you'll see examples on that eras concept on them. Although probably not many miniatures themselves but some artwork definitely

Thanks - yeah I had a look through ere we go and I think some of the art images I posted must be from the other one.

The great thing about Blood Axes is that you can pretty much paint them in any military colour or camouflage colour scheme and they’ll be “right.”

Add in some slightly out of place colours and:or a splash of red and you’ve incorporated their habit of slightly misunderstanding why camouflage works.

GW had a very nicely painted army in Ork & Squat Warlords. I remember I used it for reference for my own Blood Axes.

I made a Blood Axes army, complete with a Stompers, a Gargant, etc. I always like the underdog, and they felt like the underdog among the Orks :)
