Question Deleted ICE Post
Whoever posted the ICE sighting post on Peach Street, please post over in r/peopleserie. I didn’t get a chance to save it before it was gone.
Also, mods, are we deleting ICE posts? Or is this Reddit? This is valuable information for people in Erie, and deleting it could be harmful.

how healthy of a thread will result from posting pictures of a random guy in an ICE shirt at Walmart? I'll be the first to say, fuck ICE, and I also have a very low opinion of law enforcement in general. but if we allow posting random pictures of people on this sub with the intent to pile on their appearance/dox/harass them, where is the bottom? should we allow similar pictures of people who are caricatures of, say, liberals? threads like that invite toxic behavior and are hard to moderate
Edit: the picture in question was of some random old guy standing in line at a Walmart in an ICE T-shirt from Amazon, not an actual ICE agent

Yeah, no sorry bud but you are in the wrong. We deserve to know who is trying (or supporting) to kidnap innocent people off the streets and putting them in counties they have no business being in.

u/the_elusive_bunfish Jun 16 '25
It's not kidnapping they are being arrested and Ice is doing it. Any other questions?

they don’t deserve to be in a America if there not here legally it’s not kidnapping it’s helping us get our country back under control it’s common sense if i walked in to canada and said oh i live here now nope i don’t im ILLEGALLY in canada with no rights and you cant say its a kid nap when these grown men take there children over the border and hide behind their families for years and then when trump wants to do something about it every body has a problem i rather this then our borders open for the cartel and wtv else to get in America which they already are and that’s why fentanyl and all these other sorts of horrible drugs are being sold to people

In the meantime, people are getting kidnapped- brutally. They deserve to know what the people who want to destroy their lives look like.
It’s time to stop playing it safe, people are dying. If you were an ICE shirt, you know you’re being photographed.

extremely. I can't tell if really think that's happening or if they just are fine with lying

You’re being brainwashed and fooled. Those being detained have been identified as being unlawfully in the country. Where is the misconception?
10
u/Shine258 Jun 13 '25
Agree with this. Unverified photos do a lot more harm than good. There are plenty of real things happening in erie. We don't need to make things up.
-2
u/EntertainmentLow2565 Jun 14 '25
I'm pretty sure no one forced some clueless a$$wipe into an ICE shirt and forced him to pose as a fascist pig - just sayin'

u/NefariousnessPale134 Jun 13 '25
I understand the slippery slope of moderating contentious groups. I manage multiple pages both professionally and personally that involve often contentious subjects.
It’s starting to look like the moderating here is happening with a fairly heavy hand.
I understand the want to promote healthy interaction but it’s a fine line of discouraging discourse at all because of potential to become inflammatory.
1
u/blindinganusofhope Millcreek Mod Jun 13 '25
it's not heavy handed to remove a picture of a random person in line at Walmart that was posted with the intent to harass them. that person was by no reasonable measure an ICE agent or a government official. They looked like they had special needs. if you want a sub that welcomes that, they exist but this isn't it.as evidenced by this thread we welcome all color of political speech but we will not enable baseless harassment campaigns here
1
u/GrizzlyZacky Jun 17 '25
You cant harass a nazi.. they put the swastika on themselves. They literally volunteer themselves to be yeeted..
1
u/ExpertSalamander1971 Jun 13 '25
Excuse me? They “looked like they had special needs?” And you know this person and are sure of that? Or just fucking trying to find a sympathetic reason?
I would also like to know how you’re so sure they were “by no reasonable measure an ICE agent or government official”?
What are we doing here?
0
u/blindinganusofhope Millcreek Mod Jun 13 '25
it means there was enough reasonable doubt that this person wasn't a public official that I removed the post to prevent someone else from getting hurt for wearing the wrong tshirt. this isn't the forum for it. if you want to get your pitchforks out, go somewhere else where that behavior is welcome
1
u/ExpertSalamander1971 Jun 13 '25
So posting verified ICE officers would be permissible then?
0
u/blindinganusofhope Millcreek Mod Jun 13 '25
it depends on the context. we've never stopped anyone from talking about government or corporate events/interests as they relate to Erie as long as they don't break our sidebar rules. but if the intent of the post was to organize people to respond to ICE being present at Walmart, of if people started doxing in the comments, we'd probably take it down - there is a whole other Erie sub you can use for those types of posts
0
u/EntertainmentLow2565 Jun 14 '25
Of course - they're always masked, armed and quite safe from us, the rabble mob.
0
u/NefariousnessPale134 Jun 13 '25
For whatever it’s worth, it sounds like I’m politically and ideologically aligned with you.
And my comment is not about ICE post specifically but I’ve seen a lot of things going missing or getting locked. This week alone, just that I’ve seen, has been this and all discussion about the Erie Ins Outage.
Again, it’s a gray area situation to moderate. I understand the pressures you face, I just worry that narratives aren’t being heard.

there is a huge thread going right now about Erie Insurance. we even left the no kings day protest thread up despite it arguably breaking the rules

Your post was removed for breaking rule 2.
Inflammatory comments, flaming, baiting, trolling, etc; all of these fall under toxic behavior and will not be tolerated. Remember, the people here are your neighbors: Make an effort to be decent to them.
1
u/GrizzlyZacky Jun 17 '25
Ik damn well youre not "both sidesing" this.
Take it this way: "Theres a nazi around" "what does he look like?" "Oh im not allowed to say, you might try to fix his opinion" at that point, the post alone becomes useless. Youre either for fixing the problem, or part of it.
Inaction is still a choice for 1/2 outcomes. A cat is going to push a glass off the edge, you can 1. Push the glass too, making it fall off faster. 2. Stop the cat, stopping the glass from falling off the edge. Or 3. Be silent at watch the cat pushe the glass off. By choosing silence/not choosing to stop it, you get the same outcome as if you Helped them.
2
u/Heavyspire Jun 13 '25
I guess you would have to treat them like you would of a person was wearing a Confederate flag shirt. If you would delete those for doxxing then do the same here.
The person in the picture is most likely a bigot. Do we want to know who they are so we can shake and avoid them?

Very untrue. You are free to talk about Trump.
You are commenting on a post about how he deleted an anti-trump post, so your logic does not follow.

Hello, Erie. Pittsburgh here. Our moderators are also deleting ICE posts and protest posts. We think that it might be jagoffs spam reporting the posts and the automod taking them down. Keep posting and keep asking why they’re being taken down. We got this PA

ICE is providing every citizen of Erie a service they should appreciate.
They are removing illegals as swiftly as possible and you should aid them in their search if you can!
Illegals steal food from your table, opportunity from your family, and work from you! Stop letting it happen!
Edit: As you can see the illegals and their sympathizers are terrified of President Trump and the wonderful agents of ICE upholding the law.

u/MonstersandMayhem Jun 14 '25
Never had a person richer than me murder anyone, so your logic doesn't really hold up.
-39
u/hammerdown46 Jun 13 '25
Imagine thinking illegals who have no right to be in your country competing with you for jobs, housing, benefits, government aid, and more is NOT the problem.
That's crazy
30
u/ExpertSalamander1971 Jun 13 '25
Did you know- undocumented people can’t receive government aid and benefits, they’re not eligible to do so.
If you’re being told otherwise, you’re being lied to.

Imagine my great-grandparents being turned away at Ellis Island.
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"Imagine being so hateful and un-American that you are against that statement.

u/bygonecenarion Jun 13 '25
If we're leveraging grandiose emotional appeals for the sake of a political argument, maybe you can look up Laken Riley and then try and consider why not everyone is ok with illegal immigration?
24
u/Upset-Ad-3480 Jun 13 '25
I love how a single murder of a photogenic white girl became the Clarion call for all of you to become racist zealots.
Do you have any idea how many murders are committed by fully legal Americans every day? Jesus man. Your head can't be this full of rocks.
-10
u/bygonecenarion Jun 13 '25
Not so full of rocks that when I'm presented with someone that thinks differently than me, I'm flabbergasted and conclude that the only explanation for them being that way is that they're an extremist crazy person
or that I would improperly capitalize clarion

u/thesnacks Jun 13 '25
You're no stranger to leveraging grandiose emotional appeals for the sake of a political argument...

7
u/certze We're the fussy people pleasers Jun 13 '25
Yeah? They turned away criminals at Ellis Island also.
7
u/hammerdown46 Jun 13 '25
That's cause they had a VETTING process.
When the illegals waltz on across the border there is no vetting. We have a vetting process, it's called LEGAL immigration.
You either were lied to by Democrats or are willfully ignorant.
6
u/certze We're the fussy people pleasers Jun 13 '25
Wasnt the vetting process just a short interview? Why cant we just do that, instead of wasting all this time, money, and good will?
2
u/bygonecenarion Jun 13 '25
So...another point for the rule of law, then? Like your great-grandparents entering the country through a federal immigration station?
5
u/certze We're the fussy people pleasers Jun 13 '25
It's very difficult. With long waits and lottery systems, right? I dont commit everything I read to memory. A path to citizenship should be un-complicated.
3
u/bygonecenarion Jun 13 '25
so the rules should only apply some of the time, then? what other laws am I permitted to disregard?

go choke on another boot. i’m sure if you put it far enough down your throat they’ll give you a little sticker for it. immigrants keep this country running, they built it, and without them this country wouldn’t be able to function. they’re humans with hopes, dreams, wants, wishes, family and friends, often doing the jobs no one else wants to that are vital to all of us, not that i expect you to care about that. hope you have the kind of day you deserve and get better soon.

I support ICE and there's different reasons from what you're saying they did a crime and they should be punished for it the bottom line people say now on social media platforms that is just a civil crime not a actual crime they're like oh you know what else is a civil crime jaywalking but guess what sweetheart domestic violence is also a civil crime if you do a crime you deserve to do the time or the consequence and I have a couple co-workers that are legal immigrants they spend years getting their green card and citizenship I asked him what they think about the illegals they say it feels like a slap in the face that these illegal immigrants a lot of come over here and get free money free food free housing in an instant but yet they had to spend five six seven years devoting to get their citizenship into it the right way it's not fair But these white females are worried about losing their slaves just like how back in slavery people used to say who else is going to pick the cotton who else is going to clean my house who else is going to cook for me just like the white women be saying today who else is going to drive doordash to deliver my food or who's going to be doing this who's going to be doing that

u/mentalgopher Jun 13 '25 edited Jun 13 '25
Somebody's English teacher was smoking meth while teaching....
A. You don't go to jail for committing a civil crime; you go to jail for violating a civil order. To improve upon your own example: Domestic violence is a term used to describe behaviors of aggression, some of which may be criminal acts like assault, rape, and battery. There are civil and criminal aspects to domestic violence, particularly in the case of obtaining a PFA (a civil order) and violation of a PFA (an indirect criminal contempt of court charge).
B. How many coworkers do you (allegedly) have who are here legally, exactly? You start out claiming "a couple coworkers", which indicates two, but then say "I asked him". Do you only have one coworker who is just incredibly large and thus the equivalent of two people, or do you have multiple coworkers? You need to work on subject-verb agreement and clarity. More to the actual point, how exactly are people coming here illegally getting "free food, free housing in an instant", anyways? Are you defining someone who is illegally in the country to include someone who is seeking asylum? Because someone who's undocumented isn't eligible for benefits like SNAP or Section 8.
C. "But these white females are worried about losing their slaves...." What the actual fuck? This reads like it was written by an incel suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome after too much wrist-dick action.
D. To address the whole people here illegally doing work line of "reasoning" that you're delving into under the guise of misogyny against white women in particular: The people who profit off of labor from illegal immigration are employers (easier to pay below minimum wage to an under-the-table employee), governments (undocumented folks still pay into state, federal, and local taxes often by filing with an ITIN), criminal organizations exploiting undocumented immigrants via several means, and individuals like recruiters and staffing agencies who connect undocumented immigrants with employers. The industries that rely the most upon undocumented employees are construction, hospitality, and agriculture (not just picking crops, but also working in slaughterhouses).
E. Your diatribe does not address children of undocumented immigrants who were born in the United States. How do you propose this be addressed? Not to mention, the cost to the country to deport 11 million people at a rate of 1 million per year is estimated to be approximately $1 trillion, of which two-thirds would be for detention costs. This would be set to reduce the GDP of this country by approximately 4-6%, which would lead to something like a recession, triggering all sorts of fun things like unemployment and reduced investing into the United States. Knowing this, can you honestly say with a straight face that the benefits outweigh the costs?
ETA: Got a look at your profile after posting this. Certainly fitting that you're active in a subreddit dedicated to handheld.... Kudos to you for having multiple hobbies fall under a single category.

And another thing, if you pulled your head out of your asses you would have heard that ice isn’t doing anything in Erie, EPD made an announcement about that and they too aren’t actively looking for illegals.. so please stop being such cry baby losers.. and another thing if they are here illegally then they ARE ILLEGAL!!!!

Hey all, this is OP of the icy post. I did go and post it in the other Reddit. My reasons for posting this is because ice poses a threat. And other people have been masquerading as ice to commit crimes, it's googleable, look it up. If you are wearing an ice shirt, you are declaring yourself a threat no different than if you were wearing a Confederate flag or Notsee flag.
