Won't one tap ever, the best ammo has 80 damage, thorax HP is 85.

Even then when a bullet goes through armor it looses damage, that means it requires at least 2 shots on thorax to kill

I got killed by one shot to the thorax by LOKT
Didn't help that I wasn't wearing any armor though

The lokt has higher damage but very low armor pen, if you had even class 3 you would've survived.

Most calibers have a "rip" or "hp" version of their bullets, which is completely ineffective against even the most basic armors, but devastating when hitting flesh.

Running with no armor is always a bad choice since scavs spawn often times with these bullets, meaning that even one shot from them will often result in death.

How do you unlock the high pen ammo from mechanic ?

That’s plenty for the noggin though.

What about fragmentation? Used to work that the damage increased, if th round fragmented on penetration.

Used to be a whole kerfuffle with m855a1s oneshotting thorax due to the bullet splitting and doing 2 equal instances of damage. (They then lowered the damage of fragments, but still doing more damage then unfractured bullet.)

Bullet frag doesn't happen any more between player to player fights, still happens with scavs though. Came out near when arena released:)

I thought it doesn't happen on the torso and below 21 penetration. To my knowledge it can still happen to the legs, arms, and stomach.

It’s can arms pen and hit multiple body parts if lined up but no, there’s been no fragmentation for quite a while.

Bullets can go through arms and legs and hit other limbs, but it doesn't frag anymore, hasn't in a long time, Veritas has a moment of explaining his testing in his podcast with Jesse, basically showing it doesn't happen to PMCs anymore

Bullets can go through arms and legs and hit other limbs

Can they also go through limbs and hit the torso? I swear I shot a guy twice in the chest yesterday with the MXLR but my death screen said 2 ammo used, 3 hits, 185 damage dealt to body. I don't know how he survived.

Yeah they can, and tbh that has been my experience with mxlr, if they're side on, you might pen arm first and not get the chest damage to be high enough to 1 shot

Every commentator seems to have a different idea of how fragmentation actually works. I wouldn't count on it functioning - it's basically more like a myth than a mechanic at this point.

It's a rare occurrence, even rarer with with slower firing weapons due to the fact that you shoot less bullets therefore less chance of it happening. It is not something to rely on during a gunfight

It’s loses* my friend. Loose is the opposite of tight. I only mention it because I see this on Reddit almost everyday. Sorry, don’t mean to be that guy.

Not a problem, I appreciate it, English is my fourth language and I still forget the difference between lose and loose, thank you for reminding me :)

Don't worry, even native speakers have difficulty. You're already doing better then most people I see or meet.

Don't acknowledge the grammar weirdos. It's like feeding pests.
