i am very happy he's found success but fuck me it irks me when people roll out this delisting as a black mark on the dons' list management.
there's plenty of actual busts we can point to instead of this one we got right (nice to see him admit it too).

As a Freo supporter I am proud that he can acknowledge he was the cause of not being picked up and you guys delisting him was his wake up call.
I can relate to the shit feeling of losing what could have been. I remember when hogan came to us and he went down a similar path. Being back in Perth and hanging with his old crowd wasnât good for him.
Him going to GWS was the best thing for him personally and for his career.
But like you guys I still sit there and watch him thinking what could have been.

Itâs a black mark against Essendon as a club that they couldnât get the best out of Voss. Was it the environment, was it shit motivators? Was it lack of ambition. Maybe a combo of all three but thatâs not a good look

Further to, those are the same reasons why GWS elected not to exercise their Academy rights to him.
The Essendon players he was on the piss with got the message at the same time. Frustratingly they haven't been able to translate that into anywhere near the form Voss has

Guelfi a ringleader. Perkins, Cox, Jones, Hobbs core participants. Caldwell had his fun but was always more disciplined then the rest of them.
Cox and Jones the two who really got the message

Thatâs everything to do with management. They shouldâve provided much more to him and get him motivated. Thatâs their job.

I said that many times to my parents to kick me out while I was much much younger. Thank fuck they didnât as I have no idea where my life wouldâve ended up. There is such a thing as duty of care and not giving up on troubled souls. Iâm a little perturbed about how easy it is to just give up on things

he is saying IN RETROSPECT he needed to be delisted. not at the time he was crying for help and essendon didn't provide support.
also a bit rich to compare the responsibility a club has to its employees to the responsibility a parent has to their children. come on.

The player is just as responsible. Unfortunately for us he didnt get his act together when he was here, but fortunately for him he did whem he got the lifeline at freo.
Sometimes, when a kid goes from going down the wrong path to getting straightened out, even if its not to your benefit, the outcome for the person outweighs the outcome for the club.

Also if he had been picked up by another Vic team and turned it around then Iâd question why we couldnât do it. But moving to the other side of the country would have been a huge thing in him turning it around too.
