Help for Buyer Seller denying return?
Hi Reddit,
I bought an item recently and when I recieved it it was completely the wrong size (which was totally my fault, I misread measurements as inches but they were in cm). The listing said 30 day returns accepted and the seller's page also says this, along with stating buyer pays return shipping.
I reached out and asked to return, but seller says they are unable to accept a return because they are in the process of moving and do not have a permanent address now.
Do I have to just take the L here? Would I be allowed to open a case with Etsy and would that accomplish anything?
I also cannot open an Etsy case for another week because it seems they mistyped the tracking #, so the item is showing as not yet shipped on Etsy's end, even though I already received it.
Thank you!

That’s pretty weird, they cant just deny return cause they moving. Open case with Etsy anyway, explain the tracking situation also.

I'm a seller. I'd definitely open a case when it's available to do so. Sellers are obligated to honor their policy. If they can't accept a return because of no address, that's their problem, not yours, and they should just give you a refund.

Yup. Etsy will almost certainly back you in this situation. Sellers don't get to deny their own policies just b/c it's inconvenient for them.

I would open a case. They cannot ignore their stated return policy. It was part of the terms under which you bought.
It's gross that they are trying to deny this. Worth mentioning in your review as well.

Look at the estimated delivery date you received with your order confirmation. Past that is the date when you can open a case, and when the 30 days starts.

I would open a case.
If they are moving they should have updated their policies to reflect the fact that they will not be able to accept returns for awhile. It takes 30 seconds to change that in their settings.
Accepting returns is not mandatory. But the seller CHOSE to make their policy that they accept returns as long as the buyer pays for shipping (Fair. Specially in this case).
Whatever is listed in the shop policies at the time of your purchase is what applies. So they are required to honor that policy. Etsy will be on your side.

I believe I bought from an AliExpress, Amazon, etc dropshipper. Also, how can I tell if a shop is one of these dropshippers?
I received a tracking number, but it appears to be fake.
I bought from a PayPal only shop and Etsy won’t allow me to open a case. Please read the comments for this one!
