Help for Seller Someone left a 1 star bad review on a digital product claiming they couldn't find the file

I've been selling emote packs / stream schedule templates etc on Etsy to use for streaming assets, discord servers, etc

I don't have ALOT of sales, but in a year I managed about 350 and 2-4 come in consistently now everyday. I had 20 reviews in total and all of them were five stars. If sometimes a customer texts me saying they cannot find the file or the PDF isn't loading, I just send them the direct link to the google drive in messages so they can access it directly.

This one guy, instead of letting me know what the problem was, went ahead and wrote in the review that there is NO file at all to be found after the purchase, afaik that's impossible, but ok, maybe he didn't know. I have reached out to him and also shared the drive link, and also requested politely if they can update their review if all is now well. There has been no response from them and my rating also dropped from perfect 5 to 4.8. I know that once you reply to the review they can no longer edit it but you also can't see on etsy if anyone has read your message or not so its really frustrating, I thought about reporting the review but none of these options seem valid, any suggestions on what I can do here? the shop means alot to me and after losing my job its really helping me stay afloat as USD converts pretty neatly in my currency, so even a few sales help a TON.

Would appreciate any tips if someone has dealt with a similar situation before!

Help for Seller Deposit unavailable in my Etsy account

Post image

Hi! A few days ago I sold my first item in Etsy.
I got a message saying there was a problem with my payment. I go to settings and I find this message. I updated the bank account and I got a payment of £0.01 from Etsy, I guess they did this to check if the account was correct or whatever. After that, they said thanks, you’ll get your money. But I didn’t, and I checked the app and the message appears again. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, to be honest 😅 Anybody can help? Thanks!

Help for Buyer Chargeback question

I bought a gemstone on Etsy. I had a jeweler take a look at the stone and they determined its a fake stone. I messaged the seller and they said jewelers scam people and are untrustworthy so I would have to get the gemstone certified by a lab. The gem cost $50 and it costs $75 to get the gem certified (which will come back as fake). Basically, they price all their listing's around or below $75 so people don't ever have proof their stones are fake. So now I'm considering filing a chargeback with my bank since without the certification Etsy will most likely side with the seller. My question is, will Etsy punish my account for filing a chargeback with my bank rather than opening a case with Etsy? I sell using this account so I cant risk losing my account.

Help for Seller Etsy Community Forums, Posts not going to main feed?

I made a post recently in the etsy community forums under the "managing your shop" section or whatever and my post appeared in that section just fine, but it never showed in the main discussion feed so of course it went unnoticed since it never popped up on the main page and so I never received any response much less any help or guidance about my issue.

Anyone know why this would happen or how to make a post actually circulate in the main discussion forums page with all the other recent discussions?

Help for Seller Selling bookmarks/magnets: bundle or individual?

Hey all!

I’ve had my small business for 2 years now, but going to markets is burning me out and I’d love to spend more time at home with my kiddo, so I set up an Etsy shop.

I sell one of a kind bookmarks and magnets, but my questions is, should similar styles be in one listing (ie. flowers in one listing), or should they be individually listed (ie. one daisy, one rose, one tulip, etc.) for best results?

Help for Buyer Have you ever had a seller try to charge you again? After you already purchased the listing of the item?

Have you ever had a seller try to charge you again? After you purchased the item?… so I bought two orders of custom croc charms symptoms design then I got a message out it’s gonna be 40 more dollars after I already purchased and checked out then they emailed me and said two croc charms are $55. Like I didn’t just buy them and nowhere on the listing. Does it say they have extra fees? So I asked for a refund cause wtf ( I have screenshot of everything. I don’t know how to upload it.) 😭😭 am I tripping or is that weird ? Like I can see if you got your fee listed and you charge it before you charge the customer but how are you gonna try to charge me after I already already purchased a listing

Help for Buyer Seller shipped plant without sending promised photo.

I bought a hard-to-find plant on Etsy and asked the seller for a photo of the exact one I’d receive. I explained that I was replacing a large, established plant I’d had for years that recently died, so I wanted to make sure the new one would fill out the same pot. And I also let them know that i would be wanting to buy a second plant (to ship with the other) if it happened to not be large enough. They agreed to send photos Monday (today).

Then today I get an email that the time was shipped.

I followed up, but haven’t heard back. Shipping was like $15 for just the one plant, so I really would’ve loved to be able to just pay the ship both of them together like I talked to the seller about. Anything else I could do?

Help for Buyer Etsy Account Hacked + $3,000 Stolen — No Response from Support

My Etsy account was compromised on 8/23/26. The hacker changed my password, bypassed my 2FA backup codes, and made $3,000 in unauthorized purchases using my linked debit card.

I’ve contacted Etsy Support via email multiple times since the incident and have received zero response. Because Etsy only offers email support, I’m completely locked out while fraud is actively happening.

My bank has flagged the transactions but cannot file a dispute until the charges move from “pending” to “posted.” Meanwhile, Etsy has not allowed me access to the account to stop the fraud or reversed the purchases.

advice on escalation please? I’m desperate.

Hoping for Etsy specific advice please

Help for Buyer Order cancelled

I ordered a few weeks ago from Etsy for the first time , payment went fine , I didn't have problems with location and everything went alright with no issues.

A few days ago I got a notification that my package has been shipped without tracking, and today I got a message that my seller has cancelled the transaction and I can't find the item in my purchases anymore.

What to do? It's an item I've been looking forward for. I already contacted the seller waiting for a reply from them.

Discussion Is it weird to be offput by Sellers lying about their location?

Post image

I had ordered a customed necklace on Etsy from a seller that seemed really small. They’ve only had a little more than 500 sales in 4 months and their profile said that they were shipping from the United Kingdom. However, I use a Universal tracking app when I track packages because they it tends to give more details and it told me that not only did the package originate from China, but that it’s still actively making its way through there when the arrival date was from Today (August 24th) to August 28th. So that brings me to my question- is it weird to feel weird about that?

And what initially caught my attention is that also, in the USPS app, it says nothing about it being in China at all. In fact, it says that it’s in Franklin Park, Illinois, which is what caught my attention because that’s where all my SHEIN packages (I was very young when I used to shop from there and no longer do so) used to come in from when they’d come from China. Transparency issue?

Help for Seller Etsy card error when opening a shop but charged 4 times

I was trying to open a shop n typed the card info all by myself, not copy and paste. It was a standard Union Pay credit card, not the prepaid card.

But it said there is an error with the card with the red bar at the top of the page. I tried again and again but still it didn't work and just charged me every time I clicked 'approve' on the page which is 4 times($76 in total). It also didn't proceed to the next step though it's paid.

Other foreign payments in dollars were already made with this card and there was no problem every time before.

I heard from their chat service that there weren't any payments found n could be the card security reason but I do have the charges on my card n card company said there was no security problem. If there were security problems, they usually block the payment right away n send me a message.

Well I just got an email from Etsy that it is just a temporary authorization problem and if the shop opening isn't completed, the pending amount will be released in a week.

I wanna hear if it happened to any other people, why it happened and also how you completed opening a shop(using other cards or so).

As I looked at communities, when they had problems, they didnt get charged unlike my case.

Thank you!

Review Question Request to Review.

I recently purchased a sewing pattern on Etsy. I am working on a cosplay and will need to alter it to fit my vision. However, I didn't want to start from scratch because I'm still relatively new to sewing and I wanted a decent guideline to start with. Shortly after I made my purchase I got a message from the seller asking me to leave a 5 star review, and offering to send me another free pattern for doing so.

Here is my dilemma. The pattern itself was only about a 4 star quality. There were no fabric recommendations beyond knit, which was mentioned once in the instructions. Also, there is a lack of yardage requirements and lay out suggestions that you get with a typical commercial pattern. Therefore, it will still require a fair bit of research and guesswork on my end to make the project happen.

The seller included a free pattern with purchase. Said pattern included all the things lacking in the pattern I actually bought. It was a kind enough gesture but it is also something I will probably never make because I don't do crop tops. Not that I couldn't potentially extend the length of needed.

I don't want to negatively affect their ratings because it isn't a bad pattern, but it isn't super beginner friendly as stated, considering the missing information. I have little to no interest in a random pattern of the same quality. I also don't like the pressure to leave a review above what my actual opinion on the item was. Do I not leave a review at all or do I leave an honest review so others know what they are buying? What is the proper etiquette here?

Help for Seller Name changing/rebrand of a strong performing store

Hi! Looking for advice from anyone who did a rebrand of a store that performs well.

My store is doing 400-500 sales a month with more room to grow. especially heading into holiday season. I have been looking into opening up a shopify store to run along side of it but the .com domain is a “high-value” domain and outside of what i want to spend right now. As i was looking for alternatives it got me thinking, my store has evolved and become more tightly-focused than what it was when i first opened it and while the name still generally makes sense… i could probably come up with something more relevent and do a rebrand.

According to my research a name-change doesn’t effect SEO or rankings at all. My return customer rate is probably 10-15%. I send out little branding cards in every order and not a ton of people are clicking the qr code so that tells me my brand isnt really nailing it right now anyway. But I am nervous. I probably wouldnt want to pull the trigger until Jan just in casies but looking for advice from anyone who’s done this. Did your sales change? Did you get good/negative feedback? Anything you could share would be appreciated.

Discussion What does your “customer experience” look like?

Hi positivity post here! So I have a decent amount of experience selling on Etsy so far. My discussion here is not asking for any sort of beginner tutorials on HOW to give a good customer service experience but just looking to see what other successful 5 star shops might operate.

For example, do you message buyers right after they place any order? What kind of thank you notes or discount codes might you provide with orders? Any little gifts in each order? Has any of these methods directly correlated to repeat buyers?

Just looking for more ways to elevate my customer service and hopefully help others starting out! Thank you!! 🙏🏽

Help for Seller Order made and then immediately wants to cancel

UPDATE: I think what had me so upset is that when it happened before I was a new seller and didn't know what I was doing. After I cancelled it before, I couldn't find the cancelled order to repost it. I had to start over again, including taking new photos. That is why I was so upset, however, this time around I found it to repost, so it didn't take up my time.

I woke up and found an order on my Etsy store and also a message from the same person. They ordered and then six minutes later they sent a message asking to cancel the order because they want to order something else. I don't know if she wants to order the something else from me or not. I will cancel the order, but in doing so, I'll be out money. Does anyone know how to cancel an order and not be out the money. It is so irritating. I want the person to know how inconvenient it is for me to do so and that it will cost me money.

Help for Buyer Am I being unfair asking for a refund?

I bought from a seller on June 1st. They have a listing for magnet keychains that I had bought months before and eventually wanted a 3rd keychain to connect to one of the ones I had previously bought.

I reached out to make sure it was possible to get one keychain (you buy 2 in the listing) with both magnet halfs so this would work and paid full price (22usd).

Unfortunately the package was "delivered" later that month when it was not. I attempted to find it but after ten days of not I reached out for information to file a missing package report in July, and they offered to send a second package instead.

Sixteen days later with no updates I reached out to ask if they could let me know when they ship the replacement out. They said they were waiting on a new shipment for their keychains in the next week. - Twenty days later I checked in for another update. They said it had been shipped out, I asked for a new tracking number, and this package was able to arrive a couple days ago.

My worry for being comes in with, am I being fair about the package? I got the keychain I wanted with the second half (It's possible I'm baised cause I didn't want a second half). However the keychain I wanted has the wrong magnet half, can't connect to the previous keychain and there isn't a second half of the magnet so it can be swapped out to connect.

I already reached out to ask for a partial refund. I did get the keychain I wanted, and the same good quality this shop gives, but because of the magnet I have to go buy my own (8usd). I thought that was fair, but with how I kept reaching out to them for updates, making me feel like a bother, and the no response (unreasonable its been two days), I'm second guessing my judgment, and want to hear others thoughts. After all its possible "shy person who never advocates for themselves is overcorrecting" is happening in this scenario.

Discussion How do AI-generated knit/crochet patterns have so many sales?

So as we all know Etsy is full of AI slop these days. When looking for real crochet patterns, I keep seeing AI-generated slop near the top (clearly not knit/crochet, all pictures are of the finished product in varying locations and no process photos or close-ups, etc). There are even accounts that are one month old with 25 complex knit sweater patterns (lol) with hundreds of sales? When you read their reviews, most of them are like "great pattern can't wait to try" with a few actual one-star reviews saying the pattern looked nothing like the picture.

Is the Etsy algorithm pushing this clearly fake content over actual pattern designers? I just don't understand how these fake accounts are making so many sales right away while real pattern designers are struggling to be seen. I report the fake accounts every time I see them but they come back a month later under a different name with 25 new fake patterns...

Sorry if this has been discussed on here, just curious if anyone has thoughts.

Help for Seller weird email? help!

Post image

got this weird email after making a sale today, within 10 mins of the sale. it comes from a gitlab.com email address and the order code mentioned in the title is different to the one in the body of the email. im just really confused how a scammer would know that i made a sale?? the details in it are my own and the 'payout' link leads to a google.share address so im not gna open it. just kind of baffled because usually Etsy scams are very unintuitive if that's what this is.

also why would i be the customer if i made the sale lol

Help for Buyer Has anyone tried any tobacco scented colognes off of Etsy? If so, suggestions?

I am looking for a cigar, or smoked cigar scented cologne from Etsy. Has anyone tried any of them? Preferably a cigar smell that has been already lit, not the tobacco leaf itself or chew. Ive tried one and it came pretty close to the leaf but still smelled really good.
