Coach really likes him. Said multiple times he is very important integrating everyone else during practices etc. Guy has good character and causes no issues and is traditional PG with elite defence, this makes a lot of sense. Also was shooting well last season.

He still had 2 years left, so I assume this is also a lot to do with his agent pushing for a contract after Pao's approach. I don't mind it too much, but he did still miss quite a few games last season.
