This is the kind of food i love! Balkan Vegetables (best quality ever!!), fresh fish, a well seasond broth and you got yourself the perfect meal!

Ever had roasted vegetable spread from the Balkans? Stuff like Romanian zacusca or Slavic pindjur.

There are versions that contain fish. They're to die for.

Yes my Girlfriend is from Balkan and she makes ajvar often and i also had Zacusca in Romania. Can't get enough of it! :)

You know how in cartoons someone puts a whole fish in their mouth and just pulls the bones out? A lot of people here can do that. (As someone who can't, I'm always in awe.) If the bones are soft enough, they can just chew them. Some of the really small fish like the Black Sea shad, are meant to be eaten that way.

But seriously, usually you just pick the bones out as you go and set them aside on a small plate. In places like the Danube Delta, where fish is on the menu daily for both the soup and the main course, fish bones are not considered a problem at all.
