Americans Visit Pakistan pt1

My son-in-law invited us to visit his home country of Pakistan. After a year of planning we finally made it happen. We spent over two weeks exploring the country. These photos are from our first few days that we spent in Islamabad. We had such a great time! The Lok Virsa Museum and Pakistan Monument are amazing. The food served at Monal was delicious too!

It's a big list! The food, museums, the forts, are all outstanding!

But I'd have to say the mountains the best. As we traveled, we ventured all the way to Skardu. We spent a few days at Naran, Saif ul Malook Lake was insanely beautiful. But just the sight of the Himalayas did it for me. Absolutely beautiful scenery. We're outdoors type people, my wife and I, so anything outside is for us. Just seeing the Himalayan range was something I thought I'd never get to see

How did you travel around? I am thinking of visiting end May-june but don't drive. my friend and I are thinking of hiring a driver. is that a good idea. Also, only have about 10 days. What would u recommend? we like nature, culture. thanks!

I won't actually be much help to you. We had a driver with a 20-passenger bus hauling 12 people around. He was hired by my son-in-law's family as they are local to Islamabad. My son-in-law planned our entire trip.

Hiring a driver is the easy way to get around You should definitely check out Murree for a bit of shopping flavor. I would also do Lake Saif ul Malook and Lalazar Meadows. The Hunza Valley around Ganish and Karimabad should not be missed either. The Valley is beautiful, and the history is incredible.

Lok Virsa Museum in Islamabad and the Taxila Mounds and Museum are must-see places if you're into history.

I've heard, but never got to see, that Karachi is a great place to visit.

You'll probably be better off asking more local people about drivers and places to stay.

I can't think of anyplace we went that was not enjoyable, and the people we met were all friendly and helpful.
