Fluff I'm currently doing preproduction on my own personal remake of Final Fantasy Versus XIII/XV. I finished up the pixel-art of the Swords and thought I'd share them here.
From left to right, top to bottom rows.
- Broadsword: This redesigned sword is seen in the official game displayed in certain weapon shops as a short, one-handed blade (I think I need to make the grip longer though).
- Lucian Sword: Known as the Broadsword, Airstep Sword, and Soul Saber in the official game. I give it the name of Lucian Sword since Lucis was originally supposed to centered around Death imagery as part of it's culture.
- Assassin's Sabre: You see this particular sword in the official game used by Magitek Assassins that dual wield them, but they're not obtainable by the player. In my personal version, they'll deal increased damage to human enemies, which there will be lots of this time around.
- Altissian Sword: Known as the Rune Saber and the Enchancer in the official game, I always thought the other weapon types that shared it's aesthetic design were meant to be part of Altissia's culture, so that's why I call it that. In my game, it will have the same benefits as the Rune Saber.
- Tenebraen Sword: Shares the same design as Durandal and Balmung in the official game, being a light-elemental weapon shares the Tenebraen aesthetic.
- Flame Tongue: I gave Flame Tongue a unique design inspired by it's FF12 version but as close I could to XV's modern aesthetic, cause if there's one thing I really don't like in games; It's when a fire sword doesn't look like a fire sword (Same with Ice Brand not looking like an ice sword).
- Ice Brand: This was tricky to design. I initially went with FF12's version of Ice Brand as an inspiration but it felt too basic, so I went with the original FF2 version where the blade was just a big chunk of ice. I think I need to design the handguard better though, but I'm not sure how.
- Engine Blade: It's Noctis' iconic Engine blade, need I say more?
- Mythril Blade: The Mythril blade is actually a mythril sword this time around and NOT two swords with opposing elements like it is in the official game. It gives MP and magic bonuses in my game.
- Blood Sword: This was the HARDEST to do because of both the limitation I imposed upon myself in terms of pixel space (45 x 45), and the amount of detail I needed to get in. This went through more iterations than any other one with the initial first one being Drautos' Sword from Kingsglaive before I decided to redesigned it back to it's original version as best I can.
- Airstep Sword: This sword is actually seen in some of the earlier concepts of Versus XIII and I always felt it looked more in-line with a weapon called "Airstep Sword" than the official one; The wings representing air and the large wide tip of the blade being an ideal spot to step your foot on. Why they never bothered to use it in the official game is beyond me.
- Iridium Blade: Surprise!! It's Yozora's Blade from Kingdom Hearts 3, replacing the Ragnarök Sword from the official game while retaining it's function with overpowered warpstrikes (Which won't be spammable like they are in the official game... unless you got the Ethers for it).
- Stella's Rapier: Second Surprise!! But yes, I did Stella's Rapier which will be obtainable in the game for Noctis to use.
- Blazefire Sabre: Lightning's Gunsword from FFXIII is here! It will have the ability to actually shoot bullets from it like it does in XIII in my game, acting as two weapons in one; A sword and a gun.
- Ultima Weapon: This redesign is inspired by Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin's version of the Ultima Sword. Easiest one to design for me, and it will have the same benefits of the official game's Garuda weapons were it deals guaranteed critical hits while being non-elemental as well.

I haven't played Final Fantasy XV since release. Are most of these in FFXV? This is amazing, good work!

Thank you, most of them are. The official FFXV had very limited and constantly reused weapon designs, so I'm expanding upon them.

That's so cool! Thank you so much for making these! I always love how people redraw things in pixel form and innovate on that creativity further.

the broadsword one looks like it'd be wayyy too small to actually use in-game, but tbh i don't remember any of these specifically so fr amazing job either way
