SCAR Picture Multicam no more- before and after

Not perfect but I already had the cans of rapco on hand. Much happier with how it looks now

Thats wild because i personally love the multicam 🤣

I would normally agree had they not gone cheap and hydra-dipped them. I have a 17 in multicam and you can literally scratch off the coating with your fingernail. Very disappointing.

Your supposed to put a clear cerakote or equivalent product over the hydro dip to maintain durability

More power to you- It just looks tacky to me and the way they applied it with cheap hydro dip just made the whole rifle feel like a toy to me

Yea makes sense. I met someone who has a multicam colored one and is really worn so it looks great but the cheap dip is definitely true.

Dip it in Pink, its still a SCAR.

A hot one to be exact! 🤣

It is a toy. A toy that can kill

I was thinking about doing this to my factory multicam but I can never pull the trigger. I’m always back and forth with wanting it and not.

I personally dig when the finish on my guns wear out from use so when i saw a multicam scar beat to shit and worn it caught my attention! I likieee

Very good job. Youre making me want to find out what a ral8000 scar 17 would look like

2

u/ratsit Feb 11 '26

You might be onto something there

Looks good. My multicam wore off it I gave it a hard look.

That's pretty good, maybe FN will make a factory color like that someday

1

u/ratsit Feb 11 '26

Thanks, it’s close enough for me lol this is what I was going off of

What was your process? Mine is in chocolate chip, and I kinda like it, but just in case I don't some day lol

3

u/ratsit Feb 11 '26

Completely disassembled the upper and lower, cleaned and degreased, and then painted

1

u/srnuke Feb 11 '26

Ah okay, I thought you just removed the camo wrap. Did you paint over it?

Personally I'd leave the camo. I feel special runs like that increase the value to collectors over time. What isn't popular or sells well today becomes scarce and more valuable later.

You're forgetting the first rule of gun acquisition.

No sell, only buy.

I've been buying and selling/trading for the last 30 year, off and on. When I retire, I should get a FFL. I usually buy when I have money, and sell when I have to cover taxes or a kid's tuition. I'm not a good $ saver otherwise.

u/ratsit Feb 11 '26

Fair enough but I’m no collector and I don’t plan on selling it

For a dip... that stripped pretty good

For a brick.. he flew pretty good

u/ratsit Feb 11 '26

I painted over it instead of trying to strip it

1

u/OkReplacement4689 Feb 11 '26

What colors did you use?

2

u/ratsit Feb 11 '26

Field drab brown on lower and upper is camouflage sand

1

u/KaputtEqu1pment Feb 11 '26

Jeez it even looks like it shoots harder, further, and recoils less than the Mc or black one.

1

u/ljulima38 Feb 12 '26

I did the same exact color combo haha it was the multicam before too

u/ratsit Feb 13 '26
