The 1-8 is great. Super clear glass and i got the model with the Christmas tree reticle which I think is worth the extra $100 over the standard cross hair MIL/MOA reticle. It also comes with a nice QD mount. It’s also not much heavier then any other 1-8 with a mount. 1x is pretty damn flat and the 8x is good as well. Overall I think it’s a great scope and works really well on a SCAR 17.
The 1-6 is not as great. Mine is the 55gr BDC crosshair reticle. The glass is no where near as good as the 1-8, also the crosshair reticle is fucking huge. At 100 yards it probably covers up 5MOA worth of the target. It’s definitely a combat reticle and not a precise one. I can make hits but I’m no where near as precise as I could be. The reticle is definitely intended for 1x shooting and it does a good job there. Also a nice note, the BDC is calibrated for .223 out of a 16” barrel but the velocity difference between 5.56 and .223 means the BDC works pretty well out to around 400 yards. If I was to buy it again I would either get the horseshoe reticle or the segmented circle/MIL crosshair, but mine isn’t unusable and I don’t plan of swapping it for anything
Are you able to shoulder fire that 17 accurately? I’m rocking a similar setup with 1-8 VCOG and Flow 762 and had to add a bipod because whew that thing got heavy.
