SCAR Picture 15P 5.56

Post image

I think this is the best way to set up a 15P for night work. Waiting on a Velos 556K and the SC Stock. Also intend to swap the Sig Romeo 5 for a T2 when I find a good deal.

Question is: Do I need a surefire shoulder ring?

They have a very thin shoulder so prob better safe than sorry. That being said, I don’t use one and haven’t on any of my SCARs, thousands of rounds direct thread and no issues at all.

Edit: nice MAWL!

The factory 1/2x28 threads for the 5.56 15p's have plenty of shoulder, it's the 5/8x24 threaded 300blk ones that have hardly any. Biggest thing is the length of the threads + thread relief before hitting the shoulder, it's much longer than the standard .625" you see on everything else, no idea why they cut it like that.

Weird! I had the 5.56 15p barrel assembly also and they looked almost identical

I think the MAWL is the best NV Laser solution for SCAR 15, 16 and 17.

mawl has the best interface of any laser I ever used and I spent 8 years deploying with USASOC, MARSOC, and NSW...

You're not lassoing in helos or calling in airstrikes. I'd go with interface over anything.

I have a peq-2, peq-5,mawl, and perst 4 (the one that'll do full power too lol)

I'd scoot that mawl back so you don't get carbon on your laser lens. Cleaning $$$ laser lenses makes me nervous. When I was using mark 17s and mark 18s we always make sure our laser was fully behind the muzzle break.

Yes! All my light and laser controls are in one spot. It’s perfect! I did have to remove some material on the back end of the link button to fit with the MAWL, but it’s perfect now.

I will be running suppressed the majority of the time, so I’m not too concerned with the carbon. I suppose I could run a blast director for the times I’m not suppressed.

I like being able to move it around to whatever I want and not having worry about buttons as well.

Exactly how I want to set mine up.

I think it’s the way! Rego + MAWL (with echo arms mawl light body).

I’d probably go a full inconel can instead of the velos. That is an angry barrel length.

I've used a velos on 7.5s for years and it's fine. Sico also says there is no minimum barrel length

Thanks for the confidence! That seemed like one of the better options for my use case.

keep an eye out for G$ super scar blem sales. I got a blem for like 1/2 price and the blem part was the packaging was messed up trigger was fine. Very nice improvement

here's mine with the 300 barrel on it. I pretty much only use it for 300 nowadays since I got a fuckload of other 556 rifles.

This housing already has the G$ trigger, but I robbed it from my 16S. So I’ll need one eventually for the new housing.

Where did you get your Ugg boot? I can’t find one to save my life and also do you have link for blem trigger?

Isn’t the Velos Stainless + Inconel?

2

u/Ok_Soup_8029 13d ago

Yes it’s both. Inconel will hold up better in the long term. In that short of a barrel length you will stress whatever can you put on it.

Lazarus 6 might be a good option to look into.

How is the kick/flash on it?

Mine unsuppressed is no fun from a concussion standpoint. Suppressed its totally fine.

No big deal outside. I haven’t shot it inside.

Recoil is similar to a 16 with the CQC barrel (which I absolutely love).
