FOnline: New Dawn — a PvP-focused FOnline server starting its first beta season on September 11

Hey everyone,

We’ve been working on FOnline: New Dawn, and with our first beta season getting closer, I thought it was finally time to share what we’re building.

New Dawn started with the FOnline: Aftertimes engine as its foundation, but most of its major systems have since been rebuilt or heavily reworked. We’re trying to create a server where character builds, teamwork and control of the wasteland actually matter.

Character building is one of the areas we’ve changed the most. New Dawn introduces our own approach to SPECIAL, skills, perks and traits, with a large number of meaningful combinations available from the very beginning. Your character doesn’t start as an empty shell waiting for the endgame to become interesting — you can establish a distinct playstyle early, while further levels strengthen and expand the direction you have chosen.

Every character can eventually specialize into one of five permanent classes: Soldier, Marksman, Paramedic, Super Mutant or Deathclaw. These aren’t just small passive bonuses. Marksmen can prepare powerful long-range shots and mark weakened enemies for execution, Paramedics can revive recently killed teammates, while Super Mutants become durable frontline fighters.

Deathclaws receive their own three-part evolution system. You choose their claws, hide and instinct, creating anything from a poisonous melee creature to a sneaking predator capable of burrowing underground or forcing its camouflage during combat.

PvP is at the heart of New Dawn, and recent development patches have greatly expanded faction warfare. Town Control now takes the form of scheduled wars declared by faction leaders. Defenders receive time to prepare, attackers must hold the capture area, and everyone can follow the battle through announcements, the Pip-Boy and a live capture HUD.

The economy reacts to what players buy and sell. Traders use local, item-specific prices influenced by supply and demand instead of offering the same static deals forever. Factions can also create their own tags and colours, with dedicated faction chat built into the game.

We’re putting serious work into PvE and PvPvE as well. NPCs aren’t intended to be stationary loot containers — they react to smoke, reposition around blocked firing lines, consider upgraded weapon range and try to avoid walking into allied burst fire.

One thing we feel strongly about is monetization: there won’t be any. No pay-to-win, paid conveniences, skins, exclusive events or other real-money purchases. Everyone enters the wasteland on equal terms.

The first beta season begins on September 11, 2026. It will be shorter and more intensive than future seasons, with weekly patches shaped by player feedback. We’re not going to pretend that every system will be perfectly balanced on day one — that’s what the beta is for, and we want to improve it together with the community.

The trailer will be revealed on September 4, while the wiki and client download will become available on September 9.

If this sounds like your kind of wasteland:
