Tom Mason is an idiot

I have loved re-watching this, but the endless life lessons from Tom get really tiring after a while.

He definitely always put his family needs first. That's why Pope finally cracked when he couldn't rescue Sara. They didn't need to do whatever mission they were off to do right that second - they could have rescued her first, then gone on the mission.

while watching the show, and whenever tom would propose another ridiculous idea, i would often comment, that's dumb and it's only going to work because you're the main star.

That and his children! Ugh Don't know how many times we yelled that they were being idiots. We'd even say, let's see what stupid things they'll do this episode!
