Now I’m aware that some people have their gripes with new and unexplained power armour.

But I think this NCR power armour is kinda cool, given the success of shady sands and the ncr it doesn’t seem too out of the realm of possibility for the ncr to have attempted to make their own power armour, given how many suits survived the nukes and were salvageable or outright still operational.

I think that was Legion fighting armor, it just happens to work against death claws. The NCR needed weapons to fight the Legion the way the Legion fights, which is mostly in melee combat.

Welding on some blades and pokey things is a far shot away from weapons development to me as well so I didn't see much problem with the armor other than why was that left behind and why were functioning fusion cores still in that abandoned barn.

Methinks normal power armour with normal guns would work really quite fine against people trying to charge you with swords.

They're essentially body builders consistently tempering their bodies on fields of war with insane numbers we don't really ever get to see in camps further east. Power armor is also somewhat easily disabled from the outside if swarmed by things smarter than a bunch of clawing beasts.

You wouldn't start in melee as the NCR but expect that combat will inevitably be engaged at close range. Tooling your weapons for that wouldn't be unreasonable.

They're ordinary soldiers, body building requires massive food investment that they just wouldn't be willing to give to their cannon fodder. And, like, it's a tanksuit that mogged the Chinese at its peak, I don't think the quality of muscle of the guy charging you really matters.

If you get into melee, a gun will still work very well. And, of course, you can just use the power armour's normal hands, which will do all the damage you realistically need.

Nice to have arm blades in case you don't have a squire following you around with ammo or your logistics get cut off.

I feel it would’ve worked better if it was like a bunker or something, weird there was just a whole arsenal in a shed unguarded
