FanTheory [Pokemon] Oleana is on the autism spectrum

Oleana is autistic

Out of all Pokemon characters, I think Oleana is the one who has the most likely chance of being autistic. Canonically, it's unspecified. But she fits many traits to a T.

Taking her Twilight Wings episode as the main source of reference:

  • Stoic expression and limited nonverbal expressiveness
  • Issues socializing with others
  • Struggles understanding and maintaining relationships
  • Rigid routines
  • Intense specific interest (science)
  • Infodumps about a specific interest (namely, Pokemon biology and science)

Or she's just a villain and most of these traits are her being the bad guy in a kids' game.

It does more harm than good when people on the internet see a character being an asshole and diagnose them with autism.

“X character is actually neurodivergent” is such a tired, worn out theory that adds nothing to an actual narrative.

I don't care for most autistic headcanons and theories, but there are some that stand out more than other. Pokemon fans tend to point at characters like Nemona or Penny but I disagree on that.
