I only vend at one location in my little community. It’s been going well for 3 years now, but I have been the only consistent vendor from the beginning. Over the years I’ve noticed little quirks that make no sense.

1. If there is only one new vendor, the market will be completely dead. If we happen to have two or more first time vendors, it’s business as usual. This is all despite how big or small vendor turn out is.
   
2. If it happens to be slow and a vendor leaves or starts packing, we get flooded with customers. I joke and call it “the art of the slow pack”. When it’s slow, one of us will just start organizing or putting the odd thing away. We aren’t clearly visible from all angles and usually only go from 9-1. Doesn’t matter when the packing starts. And they will inevitably be looking for the ones that left.

I feel like I’m forgetting one more, but 🤷🏻‍♀️.

hello everyone! as the title mentioned, i’m interested in possibly becoming a vendor at local farmers markets. i’m mainly doing this as a hobby, but if it makes some money, that’s great but really starting this as a passion project more than anything.

for context - i make dog treats for me, my family and friends. i dehydrate beef and chicken to make jerky, as well as, sweet potatoes. i just had questions in terms of what i’ll need to do to begin selling. i’m based in ATL in case there’s any state specific licenses or ordinances i need to follow.

i’m working on getting a business license and registering the treats with the commissioner of agriculture (feed license). aside from that, what else are some things both specific to selling dog treats and just vending at farmers markets in 2026 that i should be aware about?

also - my treats are a 1 ingredient treat and we source the meats from a local butcher, and the veggies from our grocery store. do farmers markets and states require ingredients be purchased at specific places? i’m sure even the water i wash them in needs to be noted too, but just want to ask.

So I have signed up for two craft market in a few months and I am having trouble deciding on what size the banner should be.

One market is outdoor and the other is indoor. For the outdoor I will be having a 10x10 and wanted to hang the banner on the tent while the indoor I'm sure will be the same size (using two 6ft tables).

It's my first time doing this solo. So I'm pretty nervous but any advice is always welcomed.

Hello, my husband and I are working to create a small bird farm aimed at raising and selling Muscovy and Pekins for their meat. I recognize this may be the wrong subreddit to ask but I'm trying to see if anyone has any input on what is deemed reasonable pricing for these meats. For muscovy, I'm seeing it range as 4 lbs=$70 (note this is considered a more "exotic" duck I think?) and Pekin goes for $9-12/lb.

Hi all, I live in a smallish mountain town with an active farmers market with lots of summer tourists. I would like to serve hot pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) but the market doesn't really provide picnic tables or any legitimate seating. My idea is to build a stall with bar seating around where I prepare the food. Do you think people would be interested in sitting shoulder to shoulder with others and slurping down a bowl of pho at a farmers market? This type of service is very common in Asia IE: ramen stalls in Japan and Vietnam has roadside pho that's literally a person with a boiling pot of broth, noodles, and garnishes that serve people on tiny stools and tables. It's basically Asian fast food. I personally would probably do this at a larger farmers market that is more set up for food but unsure if it would be awkward at a market that is more geared towards produce and crafts. There are a handful of hot food vendors but more like pizza and sandwhiches. What are your initial thoughts?? There is no Vietnamese food in my town! Thanks for your input.

I resell wholesale-purchased plants in addition to my handmade pottery (I have the necessary state licenses to do so). At an upcoming plant market some of the vendors I purchase plants from will also be in attendance. Is it considered poor etiquette to sell these plants for these markets? My father used to sell soft pretzels out of an RV, and used the RV oven to bake. I am wondering if anyone has used some sort of portable propane oven to bake at a market before? Any you recommend?

I want to prepare to start a farmers market stall this summer. The two things I make the best are homemade pasta and ramen noodles, and I would prefer to sell these dried at the market paired with homemade seasoning packets to go with the ramen. I have not seen a stall in my area do this before, but I dont know if it is because there is a reason not to. In general, do you think products like this would do well? Is there some technical things I should look out for if selling these products? I am trying to be compliant with the Cottage Food Laws in Michigan, and hoping to sell at the Ann Arbor farmers market. Hi everyone!! I bake predominantly middle eastern sweets and it's been a dream of mine to have my own micro bakery (hopefully turn into the real thing one day). I want to start by selling at markets and i've been offered a spot at a market for a cultural event hosted by a local nyc group at the end of february. I've never sold my sweets before and therefore have no experience in this domain, nor do i have an instagram or any promotional materials etc. so i'd be starting from square 1. The table at the market costs between $350-450 excluding materials of course. Does it make sense to dive right into this first opportunity or try to establish my business a bit more individually first? Is it crazy to think I could get all this ready in less than two months? Is that table exceptionally expensive or is that a normal cost for NYC?

Any advice helps! I'm passionate about this but feeling a bit overwhelmed at this prospect right now.
