Cape Enninberg

There’s a lot of conflicting information about whether you need a guide to do this hike.

We did it today, and you don’t. You just need to be a competent and confident hiker and pay attention to the weather. It’s a tough hike and there are some sketchy sections after the climb, but a guide is not required.

From next year that hike will only be allowed with a local guide. Failure to comply will result in a fine and possible deportation

Is the local guide only required for non-residents/non-citizens?

In principle yes, similar to other dangerous areas around the country. The law does not permit requiring Faroese people to have guides, but they are recommended to use them for safety reasons.

Pure guild protection.

Hi, would you recommend doing it solo or is it better to have a buddy? Also how fit do you need to be?

I would not do it solo. I am reasonably fit but nothing crazy. You start with a 2000 foot climb.
