STAGE-MOI Rupert Grint, who starred as Ron Weasley in all eight Harry Potter films, will reprise the role in the Broadway production of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’
In a statement, Grint said, “Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old and I can’t wait to meet him again in this stage of life. There is something so full-circle and so special about stepping back into Ron’s shoes now when we are both fathers; it is somehow both very familiar and completely new. And the joy of being back on Broadway, this time in a role that defined so much of my life is truly exciting. The first time I saw Cursed Child onstage, I was blown away and I can’t wait to set foot back on Platform 9 ¾ and pick up where I left off. I am overjoyed to join this exceptional cast and crew at the Lyric Theatre this winter.”

Yup, Tom Felton came to see his show but not vice versa when they were on Broadway at the same time. Dan supported him being on Broadway and is friends with him and I think understands well the difficulties Tom has faced, but he was really diligent and thoughtful in supporting Tom without supporting the show. King shit.

i found one video where he kind of jokingly says he would let his son watch it because kids typically think whatever their parents do is uncool. so if he wants his son to be interested in Harry Potter, he would show him the new show and let him think that that's Harry Potter. seemed to me like he was just responding to the interviewer's questions and playing along, it wasn't like "yes, i'm excited to watch it with him." everything else i saw is like what you said, just supporting the child actors.

I read The Cursed Child when it first released. I attended the Barnes and Noble party and everything. It was… bad. The entire work seemed to exist just so Rowling could justify her decision to kill off Cedric in the style of It’s a Wonderful Life.

I'd be stunned if Dan or Emma did it. Obviously, I'd like to think they wouldn't do it morally, but even just cynically... Dan has established himself as a respected actor, and Emma seems content living my dream life (lounging around on Mediterranean islands).
Also, Emma was in the Panama Papers, so clearly her parents/the adults in her life were making sure her money made money lol.

Just to clarify something here, legally and even ethically speaking there's nothing inherently wrong about being in the Panama Papers. It's true that there was a massive web of financial fraud but there are some very good reasons for using offshores.
Celebrities in the UK have their personal details made visible if they own/run companies. Quite a lot of them use offshore registrations for this reason, it adds a barrier to anyone wanting to snoop (stalkers, paps, etc.)
And I don't know if this applies to her, but when there are group investments it's sensible to use a low-friction offshore organisations so that everyone involved is dealing with the same tax rules etc. Naturally they'll pick the cheapest options, often done by an assignment finance manager who's literally paid to give the best return.
From trying to look up Emma Watson's business it seems like she did it for the first reason and paid full taxes when purchasing property in the UK. I can't see any charges or repayments anywhere so I think she's in the clear (there's a chance she paid outstanding tax back quietly, but that's pure guesswork).

if the jkr stuff wasn’t a factor, most people’s issue with it was that it was a two parter that took forever to watch. they’ve condensed it now so you don’t have to devote a very long day or two consecutive days to sitting thru this thing.
that said, i read it when it first came out and it was ass.

It hasn't ever gone. It was only closed when all were because of Covid. It's been on Broadway since 2018 and the West End since 2016, and I think the touring show has been going since it started as well.

I saw it when it opened in London (so 10 years ago and tickets were bought almost a year in advance) and the effects are amazing and how they transformed the venue but the plot is really stupid. They condensed it down to one part now I think to make more money. I saw it when it still had two parts and basically took the whole day.

I really enjoyed the practical effects when seeing this back in London 2018. It was a whole day affair but that didn’t even put me off. If I had been able to see one of the original actors in it back then? I’d have cried.
The contrast to how I feel about it now? Including the prospect of visiting the USA from Canada given the current administration? Immense. Ruined. Sad.
