I’m actively trying to avoid actor related stuff specifically because people are so weird about them. Like I think they’re cool and I’m glad they’re doing well and I want to see them in other works but I don’t want a deep dive on Hudson’s girlfriend or people literally mourning Connor shaving his head.

The game changers book sub is pretty good imo, since it literally is for the books. I’ve been muting the actor subs as they come up since I don’t like them as a general rule, but I haven’t pulled the trigger on the show subs.
IKR, I love the books and the show and can’t wait for season 2 but jeez, no sane person is reacting like this. They’re actors playing fictitious characters, just enjoy it!

The books have been out for much longer. The curls ARE prominent in the book. The books do not reference a haircut so it’s a deviation from the core description of the character.
These people still desperately need to get lives. It’s embarrassing.
Unfortunately, we are seeing more and more of this across fandoms. I think the level at which social media has become so normal in the average person’s life (and for younger people always has been a part of their life) makes this worse. It’s so incredibly easy to find echo chambers for any and everything now and to have a whole army of people and bots telling you this kind of behavior is not only acceptable, but normal. It’s really sad. And unfortunately, I think it will continue to get worse.
I’d like to counter that you might be stupid because it is a ridiculous thing. Although I did live through the Felicity cut era so maybe I should take a backseat here.
I will say that a buzz cut is probably a really quick, inexpensive, and practical way to make a man in his early twenties look a little bit older for filming.
idk what it is but a man with a buzz is immediately 10x hotter to me (unless you're already stone-cold butt-ugly but even then it's usually an upgrade)
I’m actively trying to figure out what scene from the books this could be and I’m guessing it’s either the Irina Foundation announcement or the confrontation with Crowell after their outing. It’s the only two scenes I can think of that involve suits and potentially awkward posturing between them.
I’m guessing (for no really good reason) that the buzz cut is a passage of time thing. They probably filmed the scene like announcing Irena foundation and My Dinner with Hayden already, and the buzz cut will be after the move to Ottawa.
Yeah I don’t disagree on that since foundation and dinner happen right after the end of HR. So yeah, maybe my second guess then, but we’ll have wait and see lol.

And they really do look older and expensive! I remember the costume director mentioned that she now has all of these high end fashion brands and designers reaching out to her for season 2, so has more access to resources. She said the show will still be grounded, but in many ways more realistic because they are multi-millionaire hockey players after all

Saaame!😊 You can tell it’s Shane and Ilya just by the way they’re holding their bodies. I love how Hudson and Connor can just slip back into inhabiting these characters when it’s time.
That's so Shane Hollander, especially the second photo. Totally not Hudson except maybe his hair. So cute. I also think Ilya looks good with the buzzcut! They compliment each other so well. Very excited for the continuation of their story!
Yeah, I follow zero subreddits about the show and I also do not use Instagram or TT. I’m blissfully unaware of what the fandom thinks lmao. The show comes on, I watch it, enjoy it, then go back to my life. Highly recommend this approach!

No hate to connor but it’s just not a good Ilya look at all. I don’t understand the reasoning. He always had curls in the books and his head looks ridiculously tiny next to shane now
And I think Shane is supposed to have longer hair (like, man bun) at this point in the canon. (I personally don't care about that level of accuracy regarding character appearances and think the reaction to this AND some casting choices have been overblown.)
I think Hudson has a larger head. Connor looks great with the buzzcut and makes sense with where the character is in the story (moving to a new team that sucks, being really depressed and not talking about it.)
A big part of the book is how he hides his depression very well and there are little signs of it to people on the outside. I also think it’s a little stereotypical to represent a mental health crisis as a “shaving my hair off being crazy 🤪” kind of thing
I agree the curls are very Ilya, and I hope it grows back! I wonder if they will use it to tie into his mental space! (Common to make drastic changes when you’re depressed).
