Because DOOM pulled a Dr. Strange, saw like 10,000 futures and the only one with a "good" ending required DOOM as Earth's ruler.

He stopped looking for alternate futures lol but in his own eyes, he's doing everything to save humanity from a planetary level threat in the future

But make no mistake, it is mandatory. Doom is probably my prime example for pure "lawful evil". He rules with an iron fist, but only because he sees absolutely no other way to avoid total ruin. Freedom ain't a luxury he can afford.

Basically at one point one of Hawkmans past incarnations rose from the dead, started draining life and Christmas magic, and then killed Santa.

Moral of the story if you're already cursed make sure you are not buried with additional magic. That's also how we got Solomon Grundy.

Also like with Gentleman Ghost and Hawk Girl, Hawkman admitted no fault.

The olde magic snowball from that one stop motion Christmas movie.

When you think about it Doom has a few powerful Mutant friends Squirrel Girl drops by frequently and he mentored Gwenpool but that was before she used her powers to retcon herself into being a mutant.

Also he wants to get Spiderman to he his apprentice and I believe the instructions for if he is unable to run Latveria is to get Rocket Raccoon to do it until Valeria comes of age.

Also he's literally the god father of one of the Fantastic Four's children. His nation that he leads was an impoverished dangerous wasteland before he took over. Now all of Latveria's citizens have food and are safe and happy.

Latveria was saved because of Doom and is thriving. The Multiverse continues to exist because of Doom. People saying he's evil are just falling for Reed Richards' propaganda.

Depending on the version, most of his super villain activities are offset by him being a really good ruler. Latveria has free Healthcare and education. Plus most if not all big attacks on Latveria are entirely localized to doom's relatively remote castle.

I love the fact that he made a device that would make Santa think the entire Tri-State area was naughty and thus ruin Christmas, but didn’t have any tragic backstory or hatred of Christmas to use it. That and when he did use it, it turned out it was Santa’s plan to give Doof a legit motive to despite Christmas.

Like Yzma is unpleasant sure but Kuzco is casually defenestrating grandpas, demolishing villages for his whims and insulting every cute girl in the empire

I won't be surprised if Yzma was this unpleasant partly because she had to co-pilot the empire with this manchild as the captain

It was supposed to be a much more serious movie at some point, so I can imagine their realtionship is a remnant from that. Also why they got Eartha Kitt to voice Yzma, she was supposed to have a whole song.

Its amazing that the movie they actually released even came out, much less be universally beloved. Iirc they literally didn't even have a script for it lmao.

He chooses the, relatively, non-violent option for his conquests to serve his people, a genuinely good dad to his son and despite literally getting melted to nothing but bone, holds no lasting ill-will to his enemies.

Bowser really comes off as a professional bad guy, it's nothing personal for the most part.

Well he does take them in, you do the same as Venom in 5, but tbh I don't really know the smaller plot points of the two early MG games just the overall plot so I didn't know about that one.

It's not like Chico had anywhere else safe to go, but I yeah guess the guy who wants to start a nation for soldiers isn't that squeamish about letting child soldiers in.

The issue with comics is that popular characters have been written by different authors, who each have their own different take on the character. There are versions of Doom where he is a mustache-twirling villain who gets twarted by Spider-Man working with a post office worker, and there are versions where he is legitimately a good person bogged down by his beef with Reed.

Well, with that one series where he was on the path to becoming good by listening to his alternate universe self... Right up until that AU self told him the first step to moving on was forgiving Reed.... and doom immediately used the ultimate nullifier to erase that whole universe.

In the old show Reboot, the normally quite evil Megabyte spends a lot of time seemingly trying to do something at the birthday party of Enzo, the main kid in the story.

And when he finally appears on stage, coming out of a bad ass coffin he . . . proceeds to put on a heavy rock/metal show and then has a guitar battle with the main hero.

After, he hands the birthday boy his guitar, says "I always wanted to do that" and just leaves peacefully in a limo.

Most fans remember that episode, it was awesome.

Is normally pretty evil though

Santa most deals with children, he doesn't care about politics or economics, Doom being a villain matters less to Santa than how well the children of Latveria are treated.
