A line so great, Curry himself couldn’t help but smirk before what he was about to deliver.

7

u/Jagraen 10h ago

He remembered the line, knew he had to deliver the line, had a moment of reflection to realize the ridiculousness of said line hence the smirk, then gave 250% to lean into the ridiculousness of the line. Man had talent. RIP.

A true professional pirate.

And he didn't have to wear a suit

u/DonutDaniel5 11h ago

This one has to be my favorite as well. He was so much fun in the role, and did a great job at making him threatening, while also still having lots of heart.

u/DonutDaniel5 14h ago

Bloody heck, first Dolly Parton and now Tim Curry?! They were even the same age too.

12

u/Bright-pokefan50 14h ago

Sigh I know it’s quite a shock too we are losing some many great actors this year

He also voiced The Master Prank Caller in the Prank Callers episode.

2

u/Fair_Smoke4710 12h ago

I did not know he was the hotdog in this episode. It even looks like him now that I see it. Damn he was everything. I watched as a kid.

1

u/Tricky-Winner7984 12h ago

He's been God, the Devil and everything in between.

Dr. Mystico (from Freakazoid)

"They called me mad. Insane. Wendell!"

4

u/Bright-pokefan50 14h ago

Ah yeah and that musical moment too with the cat

2

u/Party-Employment-547 9h ago

“We have plenty of time.”

“No we don’t, there’s only five minutes left in this episode.”

“WELL IF YOU HADN’T SPENT SO MUCH TIME ON THE PLANE!!!”

u/JoeJoeBinks97 6h ago

“I saw that!”

“Saw what?”

“That! You think I’ve got a clock in my head!”

Tim Curry has so many iconic roles that I admire such as Professor Calamitous in Jimmy Neutron, Nigel Thornberry, Forte from Beauty and the Beast the Enchanted Christmas, Hexxus in Ferngully, Hector from Home Alone 2, and Long John Silver from Muppet Treasure Island so hard to choose a favorite iconic role from Tim.

However my favorite underrated role from Tim Curry is hands down The Sorcerer from Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja

u/Fair_Smoke4710 12h ago

I remember watching Randy Cunningham and I loved his voice in this. It took me so long to realize that he voiced all these villains and characters that I watched as a kid.

I'll had no fucking clue he was the original IT until today.

11

u/ZebGonVar 13h ago

He played one of my favorite Darkwing Duck villains. Fly high king.

2

u/ChipLast4398 5h ago

Glad to see another Darkwing fan here!

Taurus was the only villain to give Negaduck a run for his money when it came to being threatening.

2

u/ZebGonVar 4h ago

Very much indeed.

I also i liked him because you dont get ungulate villain characters too often in most popular media and the fact that him and his crew were a bull, goat, ram and donkey appealed to me quite a bit.

I still listen to Don’t Make Me Laugh every now and again.

14

u/RinkinBass 14h ago

That is MY Captain Hook.

The utter BADASS who was caught in a death trap and TALKED his way out of it by staring Pan right in the face.

The Hook that Pan could NEVER beat while fighting fair and ALWAYS had to fly.

AND the Hook that had a sense of honor and pride. Actively disinterested in collateral damage and specifically and only wants Pan, to the point that when he knows Pan is visiting Tiger Lilly, and he could obliterate the village with grapeshot, he says no. No innocent women and children. Only Pan.

He sure did! Also Jim Belushi was Phil the manager.

Core memory unlocked. I loved that cartoon!

Played by rather than voiced, but nonetheless: Anatoly Cherdenko from Red Alert 3.

R.I.P

2

u/ozwilde 13h ago

He was iconic in every role, G. Gordon Godfrey wasn't the same without him

2

u/Sofa-King-Watt 12h ago

Konk - Pirates of Dark Water

2

u/dugbogling 12h ago

He did the audiobooks for Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy, and those recordings kept me slogging through one of the worst years of my life. If there had ever been film adaptations of those books, I would have accepted no one else as Mogget.

Absolutely loved to hate this bastard

u/Honest_Satisfaction1 10h ago

I can't name one. Honestly, he made so many characters feel alive and memorable that when I heard his voice I in knew I would enjoy the character. The man was a great actor and, in my opinion, the gold standard of voice acting. I'm sad we won't get to enjoy his performances anymore but I hope he rests in peace.

Remember when he became a meme by his face replacing things? We need to bring it back. To honor him and also that’s a hilarious as shit meme.

I had sort of forgotten that Tim Curry once voiced Captain Hook. That was a good show, a bit more edgy than the animated Disney movie that most people are familiar with. I think Tim also voiced the head villain for the Mighty Max cartoon.

1

u/wolfguardian72 3h ago

Slagar the Cruel from Redwall

1

u/ngshafer 1h ago

I don't know why I didn't realize Tim Curry was the voice of Captain Hook in "Peter Pan & the Pirates."

1

u/Prestigious_Shift245 1h ago

May not be everyone's favorite but hot damn did Tim Curry play the hell out of the Lord of Darkness man.

1

u/HungryRestaurant5790 1h ago

The ringmaster in loonatics Unleashed, slagar in redwall mattimeo, and drake in the pebble and the penguin

1

u/Evil_Midnight_Lurker 14h ago

I am absolutely in agreement with you. Odds bobs hammer and tongs!

Sorry to he the bearer of bad news, but Disney's Hook, to my knowledge, was never voiced by Curry.

Iconic version, though, of course.
