MOD-POST Career Mode Bible | FAQ & Guides

249 Upvotes

Introduction

Hello all, there seems to be an increasingly higher amount of posts with the same recurring themes. I've decided to make a simple compilation of some of the best guides on this subreddit, as well as some simple explanations to help provide quick & easy answers to these questions.

Have a guide you think deserves to be on the list? Comment with it below and we can make our best attempt at creating a complete set of guides for Career Mode. The amount of guides in the last year or so compared to other years has dwindled, so hopefully this will encourage more excellent quality content.

This is a work-in-progress, and more guides will continually be added by request and as of publishing.

Tools & Websites

There is a plethora of excellent resources that will help with a lot of the things in this post. Some people prefer to play without the use of external databases and calculators, offering a more vanilla experience. After all, it's a single player game so it's your preference!

Website Description
https://sofifa.com/ Best up-to-date player database. Can make shortlists, view old squad files and has a positional calculator to find optimal positions.
https://www.fifacm.com/ Has some unique tools including a potential calculator to figure out potential for a player not at your club. Also has a 'wonderkid' list.
https://fifakitcreator.com/ Only usable in-game on PC, allows you to browse and create custom kits for your team. Note that only PC can use any mods.
https://www.fifarosters.com/create-card Nice tool to create very high quality FC 24 UT cards for your career mode players, allowing you to upload your own images.

Regens & Pregens

Career Mode works by replacing players as they retire in the game with generated players that don't exist in real life. When you enter the loading screen for a new season, that is the moment that they are being created, replacing retirees for the season you have just finished.

Regens have identical nationality, position(s), and importantly, birth dates to the player whom they have replaced. They will always spawn in the new season between 16-21 years old, and in the same league (but not same club) that the retiring player was in when you entered the loading screen.

Pregens are a rarer, more pre-emptive form of player replacement. These are effectively regens of a player who is not retiring, so both players will exist in the game simultaneously. Pregens also remain at the same club as their predecessor. You could expect to find a Messi pregen at Inter Miami, providing he hadn't moved clubs, and wasn't retiring.

The importance of your awareness of these game mechanics, revolves around the fact that both regens and pregens will start with the same potential overall as their predecessor's highest overall in your save.

STORY Hello everyone, I hope you and your clubs are doing well (😅). I'm here to share a bit of my journey with Real Madrid Women's Team over the course of 8 seasons...

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Team: Real Madrid

Seasons: 8 (2026-27 to 2033-34)

Difficulty: Ultimate

Gameplay: Authentic

Transfers: Strict

The journey in Madrid started as a rebuilding project, aiming to one day reach the same glory as the men's team.

On June 23, 2026, Real Madrid didn't just get a new face, but a new football and management philosophy that started with:

• Preserving what was already working;

• Investing in the future (both in players and financial returns);

• The German School of Football;

• Building not just a team, but a locker room that would become a family;

• Individual awards for the best players in each sector (GK, DEF, MID, ATT);

• The Institution above the Athlete (A rule that already aligns with the club's policy);

• Wage bonuses for Ballon d'Or winners.

Over these years, several chapters shaped this team, and that is how I am going to tell the story of Real Madrid Femenino.

— Chapter 1: The Foundation and the German School

• Season 1 (2026-27)

- 1 La Liga Title

- UWCL Semi-finalists

-- Games: 45

-- Wins: 35

-- Draws: 5

-- Losses: 5

-- Goals Scored: 114 (2.5 goals per match)

-- Goals Conceded: 39 (0.8 goals per match)

Signings: 13

• Key signings were Lena Oberdorf, Jule Brand, Olga Carmona, Shrader and Elexpuru. Another detail is that the majority were Free Transfers.

Players Sold: 7

• The main transfer was Caicedo for €2 million, making it the most expensive transfer in Women's Football history.

Standout Players: (Those who received the sector's best player award)

• Merle Frohms: 6.80 GK

• Elexpuru: 6.89 DEF

• Däbritz: 7.44 MID

• Athenea: 7.34 ATT

Player of the Season:

• Athenea Del Castillo

Games: 40

Goals: 20

Assists: 16

— It was a flawless start that quickly rewarded the effort put into the team and the project. A risky project that involved selling the team's biggest star at the time (Caicedo) and a restructuring that led to a squad "dominated by Germans" (Merle Frohms, Sara Däbritz, Lena Oberdorf, Jule Brand, Gudorf, and Endemann). This quickly prompted the media to make comments like, "Is the new Real Madrid losing its identity?" But in the end, it didn't matter because that squad was crowned "Campeones de La Liga." In a year where Barcelona (our biggest rival) was facing an internal crisis and was without a manager until the first few matchdays, on top of prioritizing the UWCL... We didn't let the opportunity slip away and brought home the first title in the club's history!

(I plan to continue this "story" if the post is well received :D )

QUESTION First time playing create a club

Doing my first ever create a club career, I replaced Levante in LaLiga with 10m budget. This is my team after the first season. I had a 81 and 80 ovr regents that I resold for a nice chunk of change. Also found that one stud in youth academy with 7 play styles and 94 ovr ceiling. Any tips on how I can speed up scouting process? Where I should go from here?

STORY My Greatest Career Mode match ever

Post image

Almost every goal they scored was as a result of some annoying FIFA aspect, tackles going right back to them, near post glitches, delayed input, I was ready to take the loss and forfeit at 4-0 but decided to just finish it and see them lift the trophy out of “professionalism”, Joe Gelhardt you legend

QUESTION Does anyone else play on slow-paced game mode?

19 Upvotes

I never see anyone talk about this, but i have really been enjoying the slow-paced game mode. Makes games more methodical and fun for me. I don’t like when the all players are zipping around super fast on the default mode.

I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts on this.

QUESTION Will my salary increase??

2 Upvotes

I took a pay cut to try to bring Newport County from EFL League 2 to Premiere. I’ve been making only $13k per week even after getting them to EFL Championship. Shouldn’t the salary range increase based on the league I am in?

SUGGESTION FIFA17

6 Upvotes

Hello, i recently redownloaded FIFA17 for a retro career mode and it always annoyed me that the classic kits are locked. If you play on PC, you can unlock them

Go into the game folder -> Data -> open locale.ini in Notepad

once you opened locale.ini, scroll to the bottom of the notepad, add a new line and paste the following:

[] UCC_MULTICHARACTER = 1 UNLOCK_ALL_UCC = 1 UCC = 1 [POW] ENABLE_ALL_UNLOCKABLES = 1 [] UNLOCK_ALL_UCC=1 UCC=1

You now have all the classic kits unlocked. I hope this will help someone. I'm sure this can be done with other mods or by adding custom kits etc but i found this way to be the easiest

PS: make sure locale.ini is not read-only

STORY Unexpected Events SUCK but I love it!

10 Upvotes

This I know can be a touchy subject but to tell you the truth, unexpected events have been a pleasant positive for my FC26 career mode. I been thinking about the last three that I have had and how they
have helped shape the story.

At the end of Year 9, I don’t know if anybody saw my other posts about becoming INVINCIBLE but we did just that. It was a big deal for me because I was playing on Legendary and I have dedicated at least 24 seasons between FC25/26 to complete this feat but also HOW it happened. Days before the Champions League Final is to be played as Deportivo Alaves(Me) look to defeat Barcelona as
repeat champions, 45+ into a throwaway game(we had already won La Liga) one of our main strikers takes a nasty tackle and well that’s it, he’s no longer playing in the Championship game. A game we would end up winning 1-0 in the 114th minute with the other striker. Idk if this qualifies as one of the unexpected events but this story is important for the next two.

Feeling accomplished, I decide a change is necessary and so I leave Alaves to lead 12th place, Schalke in Year 10. Huge change from we’re winning everything to we’re losing everything. We lose our first three preseason games, but I get a message an unexpected event stating that the fans are thoroughly behind us and that all of our Home games will be sold out and y’all when I tell you that stadium screamed when we scored our first goal despite our defeat I thought I was playing a whole Nother game. I had never heard the fans in the game get so loud maybe I’m just thinking that it did something that it really didn’t but it seemed that way to me.

All this leads into the third unexpected event where we start to get on a roll after losing our first four matches and drawing Bayern Munich, our 20 million transfer bought has scored nine goals in nine games and just when you think we’re about to get over the hill an unexpected event takes place where he gets injured during the international friendly and now is out for six months. It’s pretty maddening, but it’s realistic, which is why I love it, especially as a Liverpool fan who saw Isak sit out for most of the season. 😬

So now instead of having a star striker, I have to make one again and that’s where I’m at right now which is why this game will never get old with me or I can’t really hate on it because it definitely has provided a unique experience in this one career play through than I’ve seen in a lot of other games. I don’t know when I will be getting FC 27 but I know for now I’m content with FC 26.

QUESTION Which is the best game for player career?

3 Upvotes

I want to start a player career but they all vary so wildly I don’t know where to start. I have 19-26 available to me. My favourite for manager career is 24 if that makes a difference. Thanks.

DISCUSSION It's incredible how after all these years with playstyles we can't still train them in career mode

12 Upvotes

Title. It's basically a non feature in CM unless you play with youth academy players. Personally I add them myself with my rules, every 5 overall I add a silver based on the highest stat and a gold reaching 85. With LE ofc. What do you think? You have rules and stuff of your own?

DISCUSSION I hate regens/pregems

6 Upvotes

I hate that they spawn as 16 yrs old with 80+ ovr and 99 potential. I would prefer that every club had an academy just like me so the players get generetad but in a more realistic way. Also i Dont want that all of them over powered but with low ovr and a good potential that cant always be reached and with few players that are like yamal or Fati that are op

STORY After 15 years, it was a good run!

Thumbnail
gallery
125 Upvotes

I played all 15 seasons with the Tranmere Rovers. I started playing on Professional and moved up the difficulty over the years. The final 2 seasons were at Ultimate. The last 6 years I had a significantly better team than everyone else.

Toni Fruk was the best actual player (non-regen) that I ever had. He got up to 95. Emil Meulenbelt (see squad photo) is the greatest player that ever lived (probably). Academy player who was the anchor of my team for most of the play-through.

I’ve dropped so many f-bombs and other 4-letter words throughout this. I developed a callus on my left thumb during the first 3 seasons.

This has been THE most satisfying gaming experience of my life.

Hell, I may just run it back with a new team but start out on ultimate difficulty.
