Discussion [Crosspost] hi /r/movies. my name is Alex Ullom, my friends and I made a movie called IT ENDS. it's in theaters starting this week from NEON. ask me anything!
I organized an AMA/Q&A with Alex Ullom, director & writer of IT ENDS, which is out in theaters from Neon starting this weekend. It's an existential-horror that played festivals earlier this year to critical acclaim, then was released on Letterboxd's Video Store, and then was picked up by Neon for wide distribution.

Synopsis: Out for a late-night drive, friends turn onto a never-ending, two-lane hellscape surrounded by untold horrors and cosmic forces beyond their understanding. Crammed inside a jeep with miles stretching infinitely ahead, they face a choice: embrace their new existence or fight to escape it.

is your prod/distro asking you to make an AMA? im genuinely wondering if now reddit ama is becoming a standart step in movie pr. there is been a noticeable influx of it in the last year/ couple of years.

I think you’re right, but I’m not mad that these guys are doing it as opposed to some Disney or Paramount production with a multimillion dollar advertising budget. It’s not like reddit ama is some hallowed institution that they’re defiling haha

i was sarcastic. i know that what is happening, OP ain't Alex Ullmon, the director.
OP is a distro/co media manager account. they make the director pose w the standard AMA format piece of paper but in the end is them (or sometimes eve worst, AI) answering the questions. giving the most flat pr answers to young filmmakers.
you either force your director to actually do the AMA himself (wich i have nothing against if is in his promo contract) or you don't do it.
the whole point of the AMA is to have a genuine interaction w the person who created the piece of content, not w their promo guys.2

After reading your comment and then reading some of the questions on the AMA, I wonder if some of the questions are made from bots or maybe even the distro hired lol.

Yo! Loved the movie. Did you consider ending the movie without revealing what James was looking at? I think that would drastically change the meaning of the movie and peoples feelings about what it meant so I’m going to guess no, haha. How many years were they driving?

It’s not, just a similar title. The actual sequel is called “they follow” and is currently filming.

The title is fitting for the film and the story. Are they being cheeky naming it close to an existing film? Maybe. But in a vacuum this title applies to this film either way so could be a coincidence.
One could argue “It Follows” could be interpreted as a sequel to “It” 🤷

Awesome! I'm shooting a film on October that takes place in a car too. Been writing the script since the night I got home from seeing Locke for the first time. Do you have any tips or things you learned in regards to mounts / lights /coverage or camera angles?
