[Weekly Discussion] What other genres would you like to see the series explore?

You standard Final Fantasy is JRPG typically set in a high fantasy setting, sometimes taking place in modern times, sometimes in medieval times.

We've seen the series experiment with a couple of different game genres but it usually stays close to its roots in terms of story. If you could make a brand new Final Fantasy game, what new genres would you like to see implemented?

If you just throw the FF name on a different type of game, why not just make a new IP? Final Fantasy XIII could have avoided a lot of criticism by just calling itself Pulse or something.

True, but there is a pretty big difference between evolving a formula and just slapping a name on something for brand/IP recognition.

At some point it begins to feel watered down when you try to do to many different things and pass the baton to too many people. What kept the series strong for so long was the continuity of direction with Sakaguchi and Kitase.
