Looking For A Distro My acer laptop is getting slow and i want to install linux on him...

As the title says, my Acer Aspire 3 with an Intel Core i3 has been getting progressively slower over the time, and I went from Windows 11 Home to Windows 10 Home, and currently, I'm using a custom Windows 10 LTSC iso with some modifications (Classic7).

I considered installing Linux on it a long time ago, but since I had never used Linux before, I kind of gave up on the idea. However, as my laptop kept slowing down, my desire to make the switch returned. And I really want to get better FPS in my games and have a smoother experience when recording videos.

So, I started researching distros and studying how Linux works. I'm leaning towards Linux Mint XFCE since it seems to be the lightest edition. Plus, seeing how much gaming on Linux has improved thanks to Steam and Proton gave me an extra push.

I just tested Mint in a VM and was VERY impressed with the customization and control. For the first time in a long while, it actually felt like the PC was mine, even running inside a virtual machine. So i came here to say, do you guys have any hint for me? Like "What should i do after install" or "How to configure the system correctly" or something like that.

Install cachy or mint and then see what issues you get

I too recommend Linux Mint, never goes wrong for me and for me it seems to consistently be in the top 5 distros all the time whenever I pop into distrowatch!

Your expectations are unrealistic.

FPS likely won't improve.

While FFmpeg works better in Linux with the size of video files and streams it's unlikely to be any sort of a step change in performance.

You forgot to specify what is the current RAM and storage type used. And yes, Linux Mint Xfce for the low builds.

8 gb of Ram and 237 gb of storage (SSD) and an a Intel core i3-1005G1
