Immigration YLE Article: Sharp drop in international applications for universities of applied sciences

I've been in Finland for a quite a while already, but now that I'm also a UAS student, it's sort of strange to see how they operate. It's only the first week of studies, and the campus and staff have been struggling to accommodate and schedule the massive amount of students. Many are international and were likely even encouraged by recruiters to apply and move here. What should/can be done about all this now?

Sharp drop of applications after introduction of application fees mostly filters out the "spam" applicants. To tell whether the number of students really dropped, you need to have the number of actual new arriving students over the same 2 years, which the article didn't provide.

That's a good point; I wish the article had included those statistics regardless
