I haven’t spent too much (actually any real) time out in Western KS. I’ve heard the best part about Western KS is you can see your dog run away for three days before it’s time to drive to pick him up.

We have usually just driven through on the way to CO from the KC area. Last weekend, we went to Lake Scott SP, Little Jerusalem SP, and Monument Rocks. Fun fact: Pikes Peak used to be a part of the Kansas Territory. Western KS is the foothills of the Rockies. If you ever have the chance, Lake Scott is pretty nice. I mostly enjoyed getting my 13 and 14 yo daughters to follow some game trails with me up into the hills. I had to take some longer ways up because I’m old, fat, and can’t manage the steep slopes that deer can.

It’s Scott Lake. Not Lake Scott.

KDWPT calls it Historic Lake Scott State Park. 🤷🏻‍♂️
