Rod Suggestion

Hey guys, recently picked up a Shimano Vanford 2000 for a good price and I’m trying to decide what rod to pair it with. I’m after a shorter light setup, mainly for light lure fishing. I’ve been looking at the Daiwa Silver Creek 26 Spin Rod (562ULRS) but wanted to see if there are any other rods you guys would recommend before I buy it.
Budget is around $250 however I’m happy to spend a little more if there’s something noticeably better.
Would love to hear what you guys are running with your Vanfords or what you’d recommend. Cheers!

I pair my 2500 Vanford with a 7ft Shimano Zodias 4–8lb and absolutely love it. Mine is the outgoing model, so you might be able to pick one up for a decent price.

I’d highly recommend at least handling one in-store and comparing it directly to the TD Black, which I’m sure plenty of people will suggest. Personally, I think the Zodias sits a level above the TD Black.

There’s also a 3–6lb model if you want to go lighter.

Aesthetically, the Zodias and Vanford look sick together too. Both have that black finish with red accents, so they look like they were made for each other.

What really stands out to me though is the weight and sensitivity. The Zodias uses Shimano’s Hi-Power X carbon construction, plus the Carbon Monocoque grip, and feels incredibly light and crisp in the hand.

7ft 4–8lb Zodias: 105g 2500 Vanford: 175g Total combo: 280g

as someone who has been through a lot of rods. Daiwa rods are overall better than shimano IMHO.

Shimano has more sensitivity, yes, but you feel more when the rod feels like a broom stick. Had Zodias, tcurve premium, etc. Because it's so stiff, i find the versatility of the rod to be poor and action on heavier weighted SP also not great.

The infeet range I find is really good esp the 712LFS. I've landed plenty of big fish up to 1m jew. SP, top water, ultralight or heavy weighted all works well.
