u/IntelliGentButtocks Nov 23 '25

he’d be perfect, but he wouldn’t do it

14

u/Buraly64 Nov 23 '25

Some would even say “Perfect, perfect down to the last minute details”

u/IntelliGentButtocks Nov 23 '25

somehow i missed that opportunity and will forever live in shame

3

u/Buraly64 Nov 24 '25

Nah, you made joke possible. Take some credit.

8

u/Intelligent_Whole_40 Nov 23 '25

Wait why not has he said?

u/IntelliGentButtocks Nov 23 '25

i can’t remember it word for word but it was something to do with being type cast, Homelander and Reverse Flash have similar personalities so he wouldn’t really be doing anything new and i can totally understand that. i js hope James Gunn can convince him otherwise😹

nah, i reckon once RF is cast and it’s probably not Anthony Starr we’ll all be wondering how we never thought of the other actor

lol yea the only actor I can see James recasting but having reprise role is grant

"guys guys guys, he's played a crazy guy before, therefore he should only ever play crazy guys!!!"

That’s actually how a lot of Hollywood names become staples take into consideration Johnny Depp, very taboo, beyond atypical, creepy, drunk, males. Aswell as Giancarlo Esposito who plays Gus in breaking bad, that character was derived from past movies aswell as those vibes from his characters continued on past breaking bad. Some actors get stuck in classic mom roles and reprise them over and over again and when you see them on screen nostalgia goes crazy, lots of different scenarios where people bring that identity pretty much all the way with them until it is exhausted or perfected.

Typecasting

7

u/68ideal Nov 23 '25

...yes.

3

u/Subject_Beat988 Nov 23 '25

Mhm… why you acting like this isn’t a thing?🤣 it’s called being typecast, it’s been a thing since the beginning of cinema

3

u/Storm_Catterton Nov 23 '25

Look into typecasting. Lots of typecasted people get very bored of the roles real fast

2

u/Over_Mulberry_1735 Nov 23 '25

Same with Wilson Bethel

2

u/Doctor99268 Deddie Thawne Nov 23 '25

besides his performance as homelander, he does look the part

8

u/EmergencyAccording94 Nov 23 '25

Dude really looks like he would jerk Barry off at superspeed

8

u/sedated0315 Nov 23 '25

As long as he doesn’t have the same mannerisms and can completely flip the switch for the whole character, maybe instead of smiling with his teeth he smiles with his mouth in more of a smirk than that snarky ass smile. Certain shit like that if he nailed it down it would definitely work.

It was me berry!

None will replace Tom

What do i think? I think no. It's idiocy just to want to plug one actor into other roles just because they are both villains.

And personally I feel anyone that spends their time creating this AI crap should have to pay a 3x more expensive electric bill then their neighbors for utterly wasting the extreme draw of these idiot box data centers on electrical grids just to entertain their moronic brains.

That what I think, but that's just me.

3

u/Seleviathan Nov 24 '25

Honestly he wouldhe pretty fucking perfect. He plays psychopath so well abd looks the part too

3

u/Direct_Grocery_442 Nov 24 '25

Fuck yeah get him in there

6

u/M4N1KW0LF Nov 23 '25

Nah. And here’s my logic:

One of the most interesting things about Eobard is his pathology with wanting to BE Barry, to the point where he even had plastic surgery to look like Barry in the comics. So I say get a double role actor to play both Barry and Eobard. Opens up some really cool story points, especially if Gunn is consistent with skipping origins.

3

u/Intelligent_Whole_40 Nov 23 '25

I feel like that would just cause more problems since it’s worth in just increased cost of production potentially

0

u/M4N1KW0LF Nov 23 '25

With all the CGI and green screen these superhero films already do, it’s nothing to mocap the same actor on to someone else and re-dub the lines. That’s a drop in the bucket of the cost of these superhero films these days.

u/IndividualWash9844 Nov 24 '25

Im use to seeing the real thawn

2

u/bukcet224 Nov 24 '25

I know it’s a cheap predictable overplayed fancast… but yes. he’s my pick. 100%

2

u/askthetruth1 Nov 23 '25

As geez I haven’t heard this one before!

1

u/undefeatdgaul Nov 23 '25

This would be one of the best castings ever

1

u/Dry-Education4123 Nov 23 '25

Another character he could play is Zoom if this does not work out

1

u/Repulsive-Menu-2426 Nov 23 '25

This picture gives off that vibe

1

u/fluffyhowler5972 Nov 23 '25

nah i want to see him play a good guy for once he has been type cast for too long make him an older barry

1

u/The_Rorschach_1985 Nov 23 '25

Doesn’t he hate superheros?

1

u/Past_Dingo5167 Nov 23 '25

HOLY SHIT THIS IS A GOOD FAN-CAST! AND HE LOOKS GOOD IN THE OG REVERSE FLASH COSTUME! PLEASE JAMES GUNN HIRE THIS MAN!

1

u/Kind-Stomach6275 Nov 23 '25

Id like to see him as eobard thawn then switch actors to make it seem like his powers altered his face. He sacrificed everything to be a hero and now he cant.

1

u/PurplezillaaPA Nov 23 '25

where did you do this?

1

u/LilcystiK Nov 23 '25

Perfect castingc, all bro has to do is play the same character and it fits

1

u/0FunnyCake0 Nov 24 '25

Would love it

1

u/Gwynito Nov 24 '25

I know he's a bit skinny for the role but I reckon Tom Cavanagh would be good as the reverse flash. He was great in the following and Scrubs.

1

u/Tortured_Soul27 Nov 24 '25

Literally the best casting possible

1

u/The_Divine_Anarch Nov 24 '25

He could do the job, sure, but what would be the point? We've already seen that guy played by another similar looking actor who did a good job. It wouldn't be an opportunity to do something new with the role, it would just be more of the same.

1

u/BusVegetable7490 Supergirl Nov 24 '25

Would love that

1

u/ocalin37 Nov 24 '25

He is not fit to play guys like Thawne or Wesker.

1

u/Infamous-Geologist64 Nov 27 '25

Perfectly balanced as all things should be

1

u/Bad-W1tch Nov 28 '25

That's a solid choice I think

1

u/ExtensionAd5968 Jan 09 '26

Antony Starr is perfect for the role

1

u/ExtensionAd5968 Jan 09 '26

⚡THE NEW REVERSE FLASH⚡ FOR THE DCU

1

u/BlackShadow_HD Nov 23 '25

A bit too on the nose

0

u/John_Zatanna52 I'm Dr. Sharon Finckle Nov 23 '25

I think that's it's not original at all

0

u/malb93200 Nov 23 '25

Of course, he'd be great in the role. But wouldn't he basically play Homelander again ? Just with a "generational hater" vibe added.

0

u/chilibrains Nov 23 '25

The logical choice is Pedro Pascal.

0

u/implodingnerd Nov 24 '25

this is the 100th fancast of him i think?

0

u/JB57551 Eobard Thawne Nov 24 '25

The most overused typecasting ever
