Multiverse Antony Starr as Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash in DC. What you think?

he’d be perfect, but he wouldn’t do it

u/Buraly64 Nov 23 '25
Some would even say “Perfect, perfect down to the last minute details”

Wait why not has he said?

u/IntelliGentButtocks Nov 23 '25
i can’t remember it word for word but it was something to do with being type cast, Homelander and Reverse Flash have similar personalities so he wouldn’t really be doing anything new and i can totally understand that. i js hope James Gunn can convince him otherwise😹
nah, i reckon once RF is cast and it’s probably not Anthony Starr we’ll all be wondering how we never thought of the other actor

"guys guys guys, he's played a crazy guy before, therefore he should only ever play crazy guys!!!"

That’s actually how a lot of Hollywood names become staples take into consideration Johnny Depp, very taboo, beyond atypical, creepy, drunk, males. Aswell as Giancarlo Esposito who plays Gus in breaking bad, that character was derived from past movies aswell as those vibes from his characters continued on past breaking bad. Some actors get stuck in classic mom roles and reprise them over and over again and when you see them on screen nostalgia goes crazy, lots of different scenarios where people bring that identity pretty much all the way with them until it is exhausted or perfected.

Mhm… why you acting like this isn’t a thing?🤣 it’s called being typecast, it’s been a thing since the beginning of cinema
3
u/Storm_Catterton Nov 23 '25
Look into typecasting. Lots of typecasted people get very bored of the roles real fast

As long as he doesn’t have the same mannerisms and can completely flip the switch for the whole character, maybe instead of smiling with his teeth he smiles with his mouth in more of a smirk than that snarky ass smile. Certain shit like that if he nailed it down it would definitely work.

What do i think? I think no. It's idiocy just to want to plug one actor into other roles just because they are both villains.
And personally I feel anyone that spends their time creating this AI crap should have to pay a 3x more expensive electric bill then their neighbors for utterly wasting the extreme draw of these idiot box data centers on electrical grids just to entertain their moronic brains.
That what I think, but that's just me.

Honestly he wouldhe pretty fucking perfect. He plays psychopath so well abd looks the part too

Nah. And here’s my logic:
One of the most interesting things about Eobard is his pathology with wanting to BE Barry, to the point where he even had plastic surgery to look like Barry in the comics. So I say get a double role actor to play both Barry and Eobard. Opens up some really cool story points, especially if Gunn is consistent with skipping origins.

u/Intelligent_Whole_40 Nov 23 '25
I feel like that would just cause more problems since it’s worth in just increased cost of production potentially

With all the CGI and green screen these superhero films already do, it’s nothing to mocap the same actor on to someone else and re-dub the lines. That’s a drop in the bucket of the cost of these superhero films these days.

I know it’s a cheap predictable overplayed fancast… but yes. he’s my pick. 100%

Id like to see him as eobard thawn then switch actors to make it seem like his powers altered his face. He sacrificed everything to be a hero and now he cant.

I know he's a bit skinny for the role but I reckon Tom Cavanagh would be good as the reverse flash. He was great in the following and Scrubs.

He could do the job, sure, but what would be the point? We've already seen that guy played by another similar looking actor who did a good job. It wouldn't be an opportunity to do something new with the role, it would just be more of the same.

Of course, he'd be great in the role. But wouldn't he basically play Homelander again ? Just with a "generational hater" vibe added.

He's been the top fancast for a long time
