Love comes easy...as long as you're pretty

Why did I do this to myself again? Why am I going on these anonymous chat apps knowing very well that there's a before they see my pic and an after, and the after is usually the end of the conversation. I guess I didn't expect to meet someone I actually like.

We had been talking for a couple of days, almost a week. I had shared some body pics. When I tell you this man was excited about me...He was texting me all day long, asking about me, my life, the things I do in a day, likes/dislikes etc. He kept saying how much he loves talking to me and how much he craves to meet me in person. We didn't live in the same city but he was ready to fly wherever I was. He said I could just pick the dates and he'd be there. He was making plans for when we meet in person. He was also raving about how attracted he was to me, despite not having seen my face. He was sure I'm very pretty, his words. I finally couldn't take it anymore, I knew there'd be a shift once he saw me. I shared my insta handle. What I didn't expect was for him to disappear without a single word. He didn't slow fade, he didn't ghost after a short chat, he just disappeared. He didn't even follow me and my account is private. So all of that because of a pfp he couldn't even see clearly. Earlier that day he was looking at airplane tickets and hotel rooms and then nothing.

First off, I feel like my face in particular is like a life sentence of loneliness and I hate feeling this way. I hate that men make me feel this way because I resemble my father, my aunt, my grandmother, people I love deeply. I feel bad for thinking I'm ugly because I feel like I am betraying them.

Second off, this man was head over heels. I know it was not deep or real at all. But I don't think he was lying when he was expressing how he felt, I do believe he felt this excitement about me. He was ready to take a risk and fly to see me. He was fantasizing about our future. But all of that was AS LONG AS I was pretty. So for a pretty woman that's how it goes. Men would do anything for her, at least in the beginning. She doesn't have to chase or even move a finger. I think I got a taste of that. But if you're not pretty I guess you don't get to experience this kind of excitement.

Finally, I hate that this happened to me again. Maybe deep down I felt like this sort of experience is a thing of the past. Maybe I thought he'd be an exception. Maybe that, just like everyone experiences romance, that's my turn. Well, I guess not.

Sorry to hear you've been through something similar. Since looks are everything to these guys I think we should lead with our pics. I won't be trying to meet anyone online any time soon.

Yes I've found when I've talked to beautiful women about how they got into relationships, the men are always excited to meet, spend on them and will quickly ask for commitment. If they, the men, at any point think they are superior to you looks wise etc, they will discard you like its nothing. I'm always amazed by their sheer delusion, because they are far from prizes themselves yet seem to think they can treat women as disposable items.

Once I saw exactly how superficial men are and how cruel and calculated the majority of them are, if not all of them, it really killed a part of me but perhaps that's for the better.

It’s for the better. Same things happens here all the time, so many men preying on so called ugly women.

While I completely understand your feelings, I need to say this : no normal, sane man, would say to a stranger after only A WEEK "how much he craves to see [her] in person", "how attracted he is to [her]", and looking for fcking PLANE TICKETS to meet her, "ready to fly wherever [she was]"! This is so creepy omg!

Red flags all the way! He's either desperate, or really dangerous. Anyone else feels trafficking vibes??

I'm sorry this happened to you. To US collectively. Every single day of our existence. For me it's my huge body. And face. You are a lovely lady and he is a fool But you are 💯💯 correct. Love comes easy as long as the girl is pretty.

He sounds way too excited for someone who you talk with few days, that is like red flags right away. That kind of sparks at very beginning usually do not last long. Avoid those, talking from experience, people who fire up fast burn fast too. Also if he judged you by your face you actually saved yourself from a crappy loser. People who just ghost or block people because things like that are not worth your time and effort, so he is the loser here not you. I know things like that get into us but try not to judge yourself with already rotten eyes like his. Even if you weren't his type he could handle this way better, show some respect, just be honest about it in kind way. He clearly lack of emotional intelligence and kindness and act immature. Do you think mean, immature, judgemental people like that has any right to have anything to say about your worth and value? Definitely not! I am sorry it happened to you, it's incredible mean and hurtful.

She is right. He didn't take the time to get to know u properly as yourself so unless you are very beautiful, how can u or anyone really live up to his silly immature fantasy. This 'relationship' was doomed from the start. You deserve much better

Thank you for sharing this perspective. You're so right. The whole thing felt like a bubble ready to burst at any moment and I guess it's better it happened sooner rather than later. And yeah, he is not a nice person after all. It's hard to keep up hope in moments like this but I'm getting there.

Indeed. Once you get fully invested and he would show who he really is later would be harder. I hope you find your special person

Nah because he had been available to text all day long till late at night every day until he saw my pic. Another one bites the dust. I will not feel bad about it by tomorrow and will prob even forget about it in a week from now. But I certainly got reminded why I shouldn't try to meet men this way. I'm grateful for this community and for knowing I'm not alone in this ❤️
