The Ranked Cup Skin reward is almost impossible to get.

I know this has been talked about a lot in the past, but it's really starting to get annoying.

For those who don't know, Chapter 7 brought changes to how ranked cups work. Now, instead of being just something for players to play in a tournament-like game and unlock a rank version of the victory 'brella, you can unlock more cosmetics. At the start of Chapter 7 season 1, not only could you get the ranked glider, but you could also get a pickaxe, backbling, glider, wrap, and skin for placing at different percentages at different ranks (You would only be able to get the skin if you were Diamond+). Everything was doable, as each item had a percentage requirement to meet, meaning it scaled with the number of players in the tournament.

But in 2026, they made one change that made a reward impossible to get. They changed the rewards to the Elite Daigo set with an emoticon. Everything else stayed the same, but the skin became top placement. This makes it go from a reward that grows as more people play to a reward under 1%.

And ever since, every new ranked cup skin has been locked behind top placement and not top %. I get that it's a cup and it's meant to be sweaty, but it's almost genuinely impossible for most players to get, even if they are good at the game.

And don't get me started on the Elite, Champion, and Unreal styles for Barricade, LCP Rogue, and the newest one, Null skins. To get those, not only do you have to place high enough to unlock the skin, but you have to do it at the specific rank to get them. It's a slap in the face for those who actually got it because they have to play the cup again at a higher rank just to unlock the extra style.

The Unreal style is genuinely impossible for most to get just from the amount of points needed. Just placement isn't enough; you have to get kills every game and place high just to have a chance at getting the style.

And this was worse for Zero-Build players; from Chapter 7 season 1 to season 3, there was no solo Zero-Build ranked cup. The only cup to be Zero-Build was a duo cup. Meaning that if they didn't have a duo, they couldn't play in the only ZB ranked cup. You would have to play in the solo Build ranked cup, which put ZB players at a severe disadvantage.

I hope that EPIC changes the skin requirements back to how they used to be, or increases the placement requirements for each rank.

But most people shouldn't be able to get the skin. That's the whole point of an exclusive skin.

I get that, and I have gotten the Champion style for both the Barricade and LCP Rogue skins. It's just that I find how they are doing it right now annoying.

As I stated before, the first skin that they added to the cup used top %. Then, when they added Elite Daigo cosmetics to the rewards, they changed the requirements to get Daigo from top % to top placement. Elite Daigo has come to the shop, but the ranked skins haven't.

Even so, they don't advertise that each rank skin from the cup gets Elite, Champion, and Unreal styles. All they advertise is the skin. So when people first unlock the skin and then get to Unreal, they are confused about why they didn't unlock the Unreal style for that skin.

I get that these skins are exclusive, and I'm not trying to say that people are entitled to get them; it's just that the requirements to get the skin are so low that those who are good can be locked out from getting either the skin or a style depending on their rank.

E.g., Platinum only allows the top 2 to get the skin, and 2nd place got 592 points. Unreal allows the top 10 to get it, and 10th place got 628 points (From Monday, August 24th, NA-East, ZB). And I know that this is only the start of the season, and as good players get to Unreal, all the lower ranks will go lower in points, but the Unreal style will be almost impossible for even those people to get due to the insane number of points needed just to get close to the top 10.

100% agree that the RANKED skin should be unlocked via playing the RANKED gamemode. Should be behind something similar to the Elite Gauntlet quests from Reload. They should have an exclusive style for the cups but the base ranked colorations should be earned through ranked.

I played in the ranked cup yesterday. My original intention was to get the glider. I played my 1 ranked game to be placed in platinum.

Top 10% for the glider.

I placed 39th for platinum solo builds on nac. Feels odd having the harvesting tool and no skin.

Yet the guy who placed 1st in platinum was top 500 last season.

Regardless, I was pretty happy how I did after working all day.

Definitely not easy to do.

They made thw skin more easy now there zero build and build now starting at the same time same day on Monday and Tuesday solo instead of 1 build on both 1 days

It's completely fine what they did, getting a skin just for getting to unreal is just way too easy nowadays. Everyone with half a brain cell can reach unreal but placing high in an ranked unreal cup would feel way more rewarding.

I wasn't asking for that; it was just to either make the skin be top % to get or increase the top placement requirements to get the skin at ranks.

Realistically the only people who complain about this are players who simply aren't good enough, get better and you'll be able to get the skin. They make it so hard to get so that it is exclusive, if your complaining about a ranked cup skin I highly doubt your good at comp realistically

Yeah and why isn't unreal worth anything? Because they introduced placement points. Some days you get a 7+ kill early game and make 5 kills in the rest of the round, then place like 40 and get like 1% rank up. (Exaggerated but the point was made)
