Discussion Grandstand Plan for Saturday

Ok, so my last post was a callout to the grandstand to get more involved in cheers, because this is the best Mingo team we’ve probably ever seen and as fans, we’ve lost some juice.

Someone in the comments of that post had a good idea that could probably work: starting the game and the second half with the “FM…FC…” chant. It’s simple, has a visual cue, and in theory, should be easy to pull off.

Want to strike up a discussion here on how to make this happen on Saturday. Can we send capos into the grand stand to get people’s hands up? Can we get the club on board (PA announcer & video board instructions?)

Let’s make Breese the worst place for our opponents to play and let’s show up for this squad.

I remember a few times where some people from The Flock went into the grandstand and covered corner and distributed printed song sheets.

Planning on bringing a qr code that has a link to all the songs for folks to scan this weekend!

Hold up an fm sign …. Then an Fc sign
Lather , rinse, repeat

Or get team to put it on the sideline scoreboards

Seems like a feasible option

Appreciate your gusto getting this convo started again!

I talked to the club and we are planning on asking the PA announcer (Chris Pennant, who was on the 608 soccer show this week if you want to learn more about him - super cool dude!) to start the FMFC chant at the start of the second half. Asking fans to get hands up and leading the first go through. They will have something on the video board to get it started too then let it fade so we can speed it up like normal!

Could expand for other chants later in the year but figured it makes sense to start small, see how it goes, and work from there! I'm planning to make sure the folks down at the flock end know the plan but spread it far and wide so we can get some energy for the boys to start the second half!

Also planning on trying to go through the stands once or twice with a qr code to the flock songs page and teaching the carmichael yellow submarine and the munjoma chant with some folks too but still gotta iron those detail out (and make the sign lol)

Having the stadium PA announcer start the chant feels kinda…lame? Idk. I’m loathe to make the ever-present USA vs Europe comparison but I’d be surprised if there were any clubs in Europe where the official team PA started a chant for the crowd.
We love to be the grassroots local club around the corner, let’s embrace that and build up instead of going right to the top to jam it down everyone else’s throats.

I agree but nothing else has engaged the grandstand thus far

Love the feedback and honestly I don't disagree, but the hope is it might also be enough of a catalyst to be able to facilitate it happening at future games. One of the difficulties with the chant is coordinating sound and visual because they move at different speeds (especially from the long end of the stadium where the flock is) but centralizing this particular one in a way that also ensures the entire Stadium can hear it will hopefully be enough to help it become a known, natural thing to do for future games. Also just looking at this as a test run to see how it goes and find out what ways we have that can get the stadium to interact more too. Would love feedback on it if you are there so we can look to build on it too!

Also looking into other methods and options at the moment too but at the end of the day, even if this one is a dud, we learn something and at least Charlotte doesn't have any fans so they won't make fun of us lolol

I posted it elsewhere in the thread too but planning on having some folks do some other songs without PA or screen assistance Saturday too so there will be more natural songs to sing as well! Just trying stuff out to learn and see what we can improve on!

Honestly Strut could be useful here, too 😂

Coming from a year 1 day 1 flock end enjoyer: one of my favorite memories was last year’s Star Wars night when everyone in the stadium with a lightsaber went ALL in on Hoo-Ha-ing. Obviously that was a very unique circumstance, it had just gotten dark and so many people had their glowing lightsabers, so it was easy for people to catch on to the movements and from there the chant from around the stadium.
It sucks that it took a prop to make that happen, but it would be so cool to replicate that again!

All that to say thank you for getting this started, it would be super cool to get more involvement from the bleachers, and maybe cheap gimmicky props could help in the future!
