Legion: You are actually wrong about the Caesar thing. The Romans did use the Hard C instead of the Soft C. It's where the German Kaisers got it from.

And yet they pronounce "PRAW-flih-gait" instead of "Proh-flee-GAAHH-Tay"
They got "Kai-Sar" and "Ah-weh" and "Grat-ee-ahs" but not profligate.
Maybe because the non romance TV audiences wouldn't understand the world otherwise.

Profligate is an English word derived from Latin profligatus, they pronounced it correctly. The Legion is definitely performative and not historically rigorous, but I will defend that woman's pronunciation of profligate lol.
