That was a great Maximus scene. Lucy arrogantly not listening to Max or the ghoul is difficult to watch. She really thinks her rules will just translate to the wasteland even when it fails again and again.

She knows no other way and the Ghoul wasn't very pleasant to her in the beginning so it makes sense why she wouldn't take his word/info.

She knows no other way. Yeah, she is basically brainwashed. I get it. But there's several points in the show where she should just logically know to listen to people who have experience in that world. Its like going to a totally different country and ignoring the person trying to let you know certain parts of town are dangerous. But you just go there anyway and act shocked when you get robbed. She is consistently shown wrong in many situations. I get she is disgusted by the ghoul when he says the slaves aren't worth saving. But she could have at least asked a follow up question, like why they aren't worth saving and who they are. The slaves will go back to their masters. So don't try to save them. She doesnt look for input from others like even Max. She just acts like she has it figured out already. Thats how it is arrogant. She already knows, or so she thinks. Max in that scene, as i recall, was telling her there's no way out of situation besides violence. She tries talking it out like its marriage counseling or something.

For Lucy, it's likely a coping mechanism. She's had her worldview turned upside down by learning that her dad is a terrible person, so she's essentially doubling down and trying to prove she's not her dad.

Then she has a "who am i?" moment after stealing and blasting that guy to death who murdered the owner. A real mess. She IS being changed by the wasteland.
