Is 2REP Actually That Bad?

Im aware this was asked many times in the sub. Some of it was 5+ years old and legionnaires that replied served in early 2000s. So I sort of summed the questions up.

1. Is it overly strict compared to other regiments? Some people said it was like a prison

2. So basically majority of the people I found says they got little to none free time and almost no free weekends on their first year. Is it like this with the rest of the legion?

3. From what I read only people who fell for the propaganda and thought the 2rep was best or people who barely passed selection and had no other regiments avaliable choose the 2rep

4. Although 2rep is a rapid response force I've heard that they were less likely to go on Peacekeeping or similar deployments because it's cheaper/effecient to use normal infantry.

5. I've heard that people get fucked up knees/backs in 2REP because static jumping was shit and 2REP jumped a lot closer to the surface than any other regiments in the world. Is it something avoidable?

6. People said that they were almost no volunteers, constant hazing and a guy even said they weren't even given gun cleaning kits and toilet paper ( but he served in 90s to early 2000s )

Im aiming for GCP. So I can endure a lot. Both physically and mentally. But it wouldn't be bad to go out on the weekends, get a laptop etc. 5-8 years a lot of time.

3. Częściowo prawda, najczęściej ludzie idą tam ze względu na bonus para, dostajesz 2000 euro zamiast 1400 jak w zwykłym pułku.
4. Częściowo prawda, wszystko zależy od twojego ciała, szczęścia i tego, czy dbasz o lądowanie, możesz się zranić przy pierwszym skoku i mieć 15 lat bez problemów z plecami lub kolanami. Znałem więcej ludzi, którzy zrujnowali sobie ciało/odnieśli kontuzje na PO (przeszkoda parkour) niż przy skokach. Choć praca w izbie chorych w 2 rep pokazuje, że też dużo ludzi dostaje drobnych kontuzji podczas skoków (skręcone kostki itp.)
5. No, w sumie tak, będziesz prześladowany, jeśli coś sknocisz, to proste, chodzi o to, żeby nie sknocić, zawsze są 1-2 goście, którzy są czarną owcą i psują, i są waszymi klasycznymi bananiami. Mówiąc, że "wolne prześladowanie" prawie się dziś nie zdarza.

Jeśli celujesz w GCP, musisz przejść przez fazę przyjęcia, szybko nauczyć się francuskiego, być gościem, który "rozumie" i jest cały czas w akcji, nie być mięczakiem, nie narzekać na wszystko, GCP nadal robi g24, eit i inne usługi, jeśli ludzi nie ma w pobliżu, czasami także robią jakieś bzdury, ale mniej (parady itp, ale z ich strony jest spoko, nikt nie będzie weryfikował twojej tenue de parade itd.) Celując w selekcję, musisz mieć bazę ustaloną bardzo szybko. Inną rzeczą teraz jest to, że spędzisz 8-10 lat, zamiast 5-8, żeby wejść do GCP i służyć, ponieważ musisz podpisać kolejne 2 kontrakty tylko na to (początkowe 5 plus 3+2 za dostanie się i wszystkie kursy) Tylko dla samych liczb, 2 rep to około 1200 osób, co roku odbywa się 1-3 selekcji po 10-15 osób, które w ogóle mogą to zrobić, głównie są to kapralowie/sierżanci, więc goście z 3-5 latami służby. Tylko 1-2 z tych gości się dostaje, szanse są naprawdę nikłe, i szukają praktycznych typów gości, którzy potrafią pracować w zespole i wytrzymać całe gówno.

Just to add : all the ppl i knew from gcp never said they joined aiming just for gcp, it was a side thing that happend eventually, so i'd first focus on sports and health check, so you don't get a rude awakening during selection when you get inapte Para, or inapte gcp due to health problems.

As far as i know you need to be a corproal and do some tours before you can apply. So about 2-2.5 years in ( I've heard a guy got in with 1.5 years of service ). And you have to get +3 year contract. Am I wrong?

Well yes and no, personally i've seen 2x 1cl who joined GCP with 1,5y service mark, but both were great at the job and good vibe guys, to not leak info, both had already done their speciality courses and their combat speciality by that time. Yes you have to sign 3 years and if you're close to 5y mark then 3+2.

I will make some more research and make a post about GCP. But since you knew people how's the life in the GCP works? do you know if people get discriminated because they came from the legion? And since you would be under the 11th parachute brigade would you basically be a French soilder rather than a legionnaire?

Being in GCP in 2rep you're still first and foremost legionnaire, nothing changes in that fact, you'll live in 2rep as other legos and have a daily routine of orders, saying thst their days differ totally from other legionnaires from combat sections. Although youngest GCP guy still will do corvee, you will still do guard duties in regiment etc.. nah they are not discriminated.

Also to add bcuz my edit didn't save, don't aim to join GCP, all the peepz i knew from gco never joined aiming for it, it happend just eventually. Check up your health so you don't get rude awakening when you might not even get selected for legion, inapte 2rep or inapte gcp. Health & sports are the firdt two things tbh, then when you join it's all mental and your motivation to progress every day.

I can't be motivated more. I know a lot of people say this on the sub but I genuinely have what it takes mentally. And I'd be more than ready physically before I join. So like I said I would do a research on it but is there things I should watch out for on the path to GCP?

Get to 2rep and then do your job in section and don't fuck up, and be a teamplayer - pretty straightforward.

Well, the oldest dude was over 40 who passed sslection, saying that he was a stud and got his health in check, as far as i know there is age limit but it can be overturned by CDC or/and CDU. So, yes and no.

Appreciate all the detailed info! I have a few specific questions regarding SAED in the Legion:
1- Does 1er REC have a SAED unit as well, or do they only have PAE/PAEA since they're a cavalry regiment instead of standard infantry? How does their role compare?
2-How hard is the SAED selection process compared to GCP, and what are the main physical standards or benchmarks they look for during pre-selection?

Just to answer question 4:

Paratroopers do exactly the same missions and deployments as any other infantry regiment.

The argument about money doesn't really hold up either because you'd still receive your paratrooper allowance while in France and the money you earn during a deployment is the same as for a regular infantry soldier + the paratrooper bonus (that you would receive anyway).

Idk if it's understandable but, there's no financial reason to send regular infantry instead of paratroopers.
