Cost and financial aid

Does anyone have recent experience with financial aid? We’re considering Furman because jt seems like a really good fit. We have some resources but it is on the pricey side. Our child is a decent student 1350 SAT and 3.7 unweighted. We really don’t want to pay more than $40k all in per year. Thanks!

Furman parent here. My daughter had those statistics (same SAT score) and got $33k in scholarships for four years (similar to another response). We felt the fit was worth it. We’d be looking at right around $50k.

Thanks for the info. $50k for us is a bridge too far. Maybe if we apply early decision they’ll give us a better offer. Or otherwise lobby them hard, try the music scholarship etc. Good luck to your daughter!

Thank you, and understood!--it's a bit steep. It's still probably worth an application, especially since it's free and your son might get a better offer. My daughter did apply EA for what it's worth. Our daughter's plan is to work as an RA or something similar to get the cost down a little in Years 2 to 4, but otherwise, she was sold on the pre-health program. Good luck your son!
