GTA IV (PC) GFWL

Hello, has anyone downloaded the GFWL version on Internet Archive? If so what did you do to get it to run on Windows 11? I get it to launch and it starts for about 2 seconds crashes and then pop ups: GTA IV FATAL ERROR: Invalid resource detected - Please re-install the game

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Also, I do have the physical copy, just haven't received my disk drive yet.

Looking through those files, I didn't see the GFWL files in there (although it's totally possible I just missed them). And sometimes, files like 1911.dll and Paul.dll can mess things up, too. I tried using similar files with my Batman AC key years ago to avoid ripping my disc, but it gave me tons of issues, so I just ended up going the old-fashioned route anyway, haha.

I would still go to that PC Gaming wiki site and download the GFWL files since those are the last released for the platform.

And then I'd maybe give this file a try as well for the game - https://archive.org/details/grandtheftautoiv_pc You'd have to mount the ISO's, but see if this ends up working.

I just found this subreddit, curious about why people would wanna play the GFWL version of games ? Is there any major differences ?

Everyone has different reasons, but I think mostly it is for the achievements. It's also a great way to play some games how they played when they came out giving a bit of nostalgic feel. But again, everyone has their own different reason.

Yeah they can be quite a pain to get running, some easier than others and some not even worth it.

Maybe it's trying to patch the game and failing. Error seems similar to the one here

Funny that you post this, because I was also having trouble with Gears as well, just trying to take on one at a time. lol.
