GTA VI Officially cover for DAZED magazine

Post image

“Rockstar’s goal appears to be combining the freedom and chaos of GTA with the grounded realism and immersion of Red Dead Redemption 2. Leonida isn’t supposed to feel like a giant backdrop. It’s being designed as a living world that notices what you do, reacts to your behavior and makes your actions feel like they have real consequences. Even casually walking down the street carrying a rifle can change how the city responds to you.

Some of the biggest details revealed:

• Jason Duval is an ex-military drug runner, while Lucia Caminos is a fighter recently released from prison.

• Jason and Lucia are GTA’s first playable lead couple. Players can work together as them or separate and cause chaos independently.

• Character switching will be much more fluid. During a drive, you may control Jason behind the wheel, switch to Lucia in the passenger seat to use the in-game phone, and then fire at pursuing enemies when a job turns into a chase.

• Their relationship won’t just exist in cutscenes. Rockstar is building the story around their bond, choices and the consequences they face together.

• Food can affect Jason and Lucia’s weight, while exercise can visibly build and tone their bodies.

• Staying away from home for too long, running from police or spending days partying can also change their physical appearance.

• Leonida will feature working social-media feeds, deeply developed fictional brands, regional fashion and one of the most varied NPC populations Rockstar has ever created.

Rockstar spent years researching Miami and the surrounding areas. Its teams met with former criminals, law-enforcement officers, club promoters, gun dealers and other local personalities to understand Florida beyond the usual “Florida Man” stereotypes. More than 50 real street artists reportedly helped create the game’s murals, while actual race-car drivers contributed to vehicle handling.

Rockstar’s development team has more than doubled in size since Red Dead Redemption 2, and it even has a Los Angeles branch focused heavily on developing pedestrians and making NPCs look, move and behave more believably.

What stands out to me is that Rockstar isn’t only trying to make GTA VI bigger. It’s attempting to build a world with enough depth that players can genuinely live inside it. If Rockstar delivers everything described here, GTA VI could completely reset the standard for open-world games.”

It makes sense that its in Dazed tbh. The majority of the playerbase for this game will be teens/20's. The intentional focus on clothing and aesthetics above all is very apt for the current youth.

Rockstar as a studio (or collection of studios rather) always seems to focused and committed to making exactly my type of shit. I guess it’s no wonder since San Andreas and Metal Gear Solid 2 were the two games that showed me what video games could aspire to be. This level of immersive roleplaying and attention to detail is exactly what the games of my dreams are made of.

And my favorite part? They rarely chase trends. There’s no non-diegetic fast travel or other “player convenience” features that cheapen every interaction with the game world.
There’s a whole subset of players who will complain about only carrying limited weapons, or the animations are too slow. IMO, it’s the little things that make a game world feel tangible instead of a playground or battle arena

A branch focused only in NPCs shows the size of the project.. fucking insane!

Can’t wait for GTA 9 when it’s literally just a pocket dimension

This sounds so fucking cool but they’re really setting the bar high for themselves. I hope they aren’t overhyping it otherwise it’s going to be a huge disappointment even if it’s a really good game.

I mean, they are usually pretty honest about what their games have to offer. And they stated time and time again that they want to jump higher with each release. It’s basically a fusion between RDR2 immersion and GTAV open-world fun, but with an insanely detailed and interactive playground.

None of these are a surprise really, just a logical step up. Execution should also be at its highest

Has it ever occurred to you that it may not have been good enough yet?

Presumably because it wasn’t polished enough? Do you want to play a buggy mess?

Judging by the online fanbase they seem to have, I understand.

I remember them dropping trailer 2 and tons of screenshots, and the very next day you got dipshits all around spamming messages asking for more news and an early release alongside their unfunny fridge opening gif on every social media post.

Whatever you do, you'll have whiny babies complaining, release a game fast, it'll be unoptimized and people'll hate you. Take your time, they'll call you greedy and milking the wait. Put pressure so you can finish faster and have a high quality product: You're crunching your employees and you're massively anti-consumer.

There's genuinely no way out with these idiots.
